CA27-29 numbers and Covid

Has anyone experienced their CA 27-29 numbers going up due to their having Covid or another of the nasty viruses going around these days? I’ve been sick the past two months. Home test was negative for Covid but we seem to have some viruses that are every bit as bad and my tumor markers crept up to 49 so onc wants to do a CT and bone scan. I have no pain at all like I did when first diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer in the sternum and my last scan in November was clear and my numbers were in the normal range. I’m scheduled for the scan but I really believe it’s the virus that is playing with my numbers. My biggest concern is that I’ve finally talked him into letting me do the 75mg Ibrance and now he wants me to go back to 125 mg. The only reason he didn’t put me on it now was that I’m already exhausted from this virus. Any thoughts on numbers and viruses?

Yes! When I had covid... my ca 27-29 were elevated and then when I recently had the flu they were elevated as well. Nothing that my oncologist was concerned about. she said that the test is very sensitive, even the equipment can give false readings.

thank you for confirming my suspicions! I know my oncologist wants to stay on top of this and so I agreed to the scan even though it’s a big copay for me but if it shows nothing I’m sure hoping he doesn’t insist on the higher dose ibrance
