Fly Fishing Anyone?
This is sweet
Thank you for sharing!
Over the years, several women from SHARE participated in this program and loved it!
Thanks so much! I applied!
I've not done it but have heard only very positive things about this. I've gone on other BC retreats and just being with other women with BC and MBC is an amazing experience. I've learned so much from other woemn living with MBC and BC!
I participated in this program in 2012 I think...it was wonderful. Physically, the motions for fly casting are excellent for regaining full motion and flexibility after breast surgery...lumpectomy or mastectomy. Emotionally the evening education and discussion sessions and meals together are so welcoming, no pressure to participate, you can just listen and be present, and they are very supportive. Mentally, you learn a good life lesson: the point of fishing is not to catch fish, the point of fishing is to fish! i.e to just live your life! Go for it!
Wow sister/warrior/Thriver This looks like so much fun. This is something I would do, just as long as someone puts the live bait on my fishing pole . Now if I was on a deserted island I would do it to survive ! You can bring home the fish fry it up in a pan, We are full faceted Thriver Woman. Enjoy . sister/warrior, and yesssssss Thriver enjoy your best life
Thanks for posting! I have never been fishing, but have applied! 😄
Thank you!
Thank you so much. I, too, have applied. It sounds like a lot of fun. One is not assured of a place in my state. They choose by lottery. I’m hopeful I’ll get chosen! 👍
I participated in the Casting for Recovery program over 10 years ago, and have nothing but praise for it. I still fly fish, and introduced my (indoor loving) husband to it. He became an avid fly fisher, and finds it is the best therapy for him. He fishes 12 months a year, which is a challenge here in the Northeast, and has caught both his January and February trout (catch and release only). The psychosocial support and group activities in the program are great.
Just got notified that I was selected - so excited! May 13 in Springerville Arizona
