Hi ladies. Does anyone have lower calf pain from ibrance or faslodex? This is new for me after 4 years but it’s really bothering me. It’s in both legs. Thanks. Marianne

Hi marianne88...Is the pain like a muscle cramp?

I've had them over the years - sometimes very painful - usually in my feet or calves. I've read here about others having the same...and the consensus seems to be about mineral deficiencies.

I've chalked mine up to potassium deficiency from the meds (I think this is true?) and so I take a big fat Rx potassium pill at the first sign...I suppose a banana or similar could work, too. But I do think there's more science behind the magnesium deficiency...

It might be worth tweaking your diet a bit or getting supplements to give that a try, assuming your doc rules out something more serious...

Best,

Lynn

Thank you so much. I will get some potassium and see if that helps 💕💕

No—but after four years of letrizole I have started to have calf pain…switching between both my legs…groin pain also that comes and goes, so bad that I thought I had fractured a femur again… but no…just crazy leg pains—muscle and bone, alternating and intermittent ….

I don’t know if it’s due to the Ibrance but I find that I have to drink 2L of water a day and I take magnesium at night time otherwise I end up with a cramping in my calves. Many of us are deficient in magnesium.

Nasha Winters (Metabolic Approach to Cancer) has a formula for the amount of water/clear liquid excl coffee you need a day.

Take your weight in lbs so at 62.5 kilos I weigh 138 lbs divide that by 2 so that’s 69. So I need 69 fluid ounces of water a day to stay properly hydrated and detox correctly. 69 fluid ounces congers to just over 2l of water.

Try that and see if it helps. I also have a magnesium spray (sensitive one as I prefer that) which I use on occasion

Hi... I was having calf pain (I.e., muscle cramping) until I started eating a banana every day. Actually, just a 1/2 banana a day seems to help mine... This summer, I’ve been making a morning fruit bowl of sliced banana, strawberries, and blueberries for me and my husband. That really helped relieve the muscle cramps I was having. Hope you find what will work to help yours. -D

I was just coming on site to see if anyone was having problems with their faslodex injections My lower back hip bone right below where injection site is swells and is painfull my legs get weak and tingling I feel it is because the Faslodex shot is supposed to be set out for 30 minutes to get room temperature before giving shot and it should take 1-3 minutes to slowly give shot also very important they are injecting in correct location very few nurses follow this routine in my experience. My last shot she took the Faslodex injections out of fridge and wrapped in towel for no longer than 5 minutes and also injected like any other injection not taking the 1-3 minutes suggested

Now I’m suffering because of it. if the injection is room temperature it does not go thru your body the way it should because it is thick when not room temperature I will be talking to my dr about this at next visit

They could be getting too close to the sciatic nerve. Let the nurse know of your symptoms and insist they warm it and inject slowly.

If you have any swelling in your legs you need to let your Dr. know ASAP as it could be blood clots.

Hi Marianne, did the pain in your calves get resolved? I'm HER2 positive and I take Herceptin and exemestane with a periodic exgeva shot. In the last 2 months, a pain in my calves has begun, which makes it difficult and painful to walk fast or even medium-fast. Please let me know what you did to eradicate this new pesky pain? Thank you!
