Hi ladies I have had many treatments just to give you a few.Afinitor, anastrazole, faslodex, tamoxifen, herceptin,Ibrance, letrozole, aromasin, exemestane, and my last one I'm on is vinorelbine..(which is IV no more oral chemo for me) I have read numerous posts and can't find which chemo I would possibility go to next. I know the last IV did not work so I won't be surprised with the results. The pain is getting worse..I have had two cancers 2009 r breast 2015 l breast. BCM 2017. One was her 2 positive the other her 2 negative. I have numerous bone mets too many to mention. Walking is getting difficult now and I have pain radiating from my back to my front with the sensations of an electric shock. My oncologist has been off for just about a year on maternity. She will be back November. My family doctor took 6 months off and will be back October . In both cases especially the onocoligist I get a different practioner each time. I learn more from all of you than them I hesitated to post as it seems that so many of us are having difficult times and I hope from the bottom of my heart you will all find answers and find peace. Take care🙏🏻❤️

I pray for good results for you. Navelbine is available as oral soft capsule. And I don’t think I saw Xeloda on the list of your previous meds. That’s oral too.

Dear Shleby4now -

I don't know what your other treatments options might be, I'm sorry...and I'm also so, so sorry for what you're dealing with. I can only imagine that it's so challenging that, even beyond the pain, mobility issues, and fear, you are dealing with a lack of a consistent doctor, who knows you and with whom you feel comfortable. .

On that issue in particular, it sounds like they're sort of filling in while your "real" doc's on leave, but maybe you can let them know that you want one doc to deal with...consider it a switch if that helps (you can always switch back?)...and now you have the "benefit" of having met with several, so you can choose the one you liked best? Maybe it will help to get stability in that aspect of your life/treatment?

I do wish you the best with it...I'll be thinking of you...and, as you note, I also hope you find answers and peace...

Sending love,

Lynn

Shelby, I'm so sorry to read your post. First of all, how are they addressing your pain? Not having an oncologist to rely on is upsetting.

I hope others will have good treatment suggestions for you. What was advised to me and also helped me as a topical pain reliever is b-Caryophyllene, which I ordered through Amazon. Certainly worth a try.

Hugs and prayers for perseverence till your own onc is back in November 🙏❤️

Just to reply to your chemo options question...sounds like Taxol or Abraxane are still options, both have been very effective for many of us. I'm on Abraxane now and my next options include Vinorelbine, Gemzar (supposed to have fewer side effects) and Eribulin, which has a good track record for liver mets. There are also anthracylines like Doxil. Bottom line....still lots of good options!

I hope you can get in to see an oncologist soon and get help with the pain; that makes even thinking about anything difficult. November seems way too long to wait. You don't say how long you have been on Vinorelbine. If it's more than 3 months can you ask for a scan to see how it's working?

I really hope you can get in to see an oncologist too and get some support and good guidance.

I sure understand how hard it is to have your doctors "out" and leaving you with out a real treatment plan beyond what you are doing now. My long time onc retired about 2 1/2 years ago and I miss her experience and wisdom alot. To answer your question about what meds might be next, for those of us with a hormone receptor positive mbc, the first chemo used in our treatment is usually either a taxane (Taxol, Abraxane or another that I don't remember how to spell) or Xeloda. Those are often used either at first if there is an urgent need to reduce the tumor load or after the hormonal treatments have worked and then failed. Somebody else here mentioned Gemzar, I hope you will have something that works well for you and knocks cancer to its knees! And eases your worry. And that you have great reunions with your regular doctors! Trusting our doctors is such a big part of having peace of mind!
