Fluvestrant and Ibrance

I had my first cycle of shots for Fluvestrant last week. Reading from the post I was prepared for the procedure and the shots were not as bad considering Onc office used ice packs. Thank you Ladies for all the informative info I gathered here. Now onto Ibrance, I took my first pill yesterday, 125 mg, I did not know how it would affect me. I hour after taking it I felt dizzy and a bit fatigued but I pressed on. I bounced back about 1 hour later and just monitored myself the rest of the day. 2 days in, 2nd pill went down the hatch this morning, so far so good, hopefully this will continue. Should I give myself a good 30 days before I should feel that perhaps 125 mg works for me?

Thanks so much Sandra and I will practice your tidbits shared. Have a Happy New Year!

Geewisdom, it sounds like you're off to a good start! :). For many of us the treatments have been much easier than we might have feared...I hope that's the case for you! The meds go down/in pretty easily and then they get to work fighting cancer! Not necessarily the way one would want to start the new year, but all things considered, these drugs are a gift!

Take care, Lynn

Awesome LynnFish, great to hear. Doing my HappyDance. I will continue to keep us ALL in prayer.

girlsptz, thanks for the reminder to take the Ibrance with food....it came 30 minutes after I took mine on an empty stomach! I'll go make myself a nice avo toast! :)

Good for you! My first couple of rounds of Ibrance/Exemestane generated some very real bone aches (bone and lymph node mets)....but my 4 month scan showed a complete clinical response. Best of luck to you. I hope these meds get in there and kick your mets in the teeth!

So happy you did well with your shots and continued success with Ibrance!

Sandra offered good advice.

I will add that I take mine with dinner in the evening before bed. Go to sleep without feeling side effects as much.

I’ve been on it for 6 months and the side effects haven’t been too bad. The hardest one for me is my nails break very easily - I can’t grow them anymore. I’ve started taking biotin and it seems to be helping. ❤️

Hi SunshineBoss: I use OPI Nail Strengthener & it has helped a whole lot. It costs about $15US for a bottle of the polish. It lasts for many months. ❤️🙏❤️
