New drugs for mbc

Have you all noticed that suddenly which for years there where only a few mbc drugs. There have been 2 new drugs in last few months. I’m taking one called Verzenio 150mg twice daily. Then another one that begins with an L... Verzenio has fewer side effects so my oncologist says. Because I guess my Neutrophils got so low it scared him at only 21 days of Ibrance. I will keep everyone posted on how I tolerate it. Of course it’s more expensive than Ibrance so that is something else. But in trails shrunk 40% tumors, and of course everyone is different in response. Good luck to everyone! I will keep you posted as I take it a full month., and twice daily.

I was just watching that verzenio commercial relieved of another option! Just a few months ago, Ibrance was the only commercial. Of course, I’m definitely more conscious of it. I just pray for cure or continued alternative.

That’s what my husband says, and I’m like right. He says something is right around the corner. Why he says just stay stable until this miracle happens. All we can do is pray and hope. Happy Mother’s Day to ya!❤️

Good for you! Let me know how it works for you. I’m stable on Ibrance but still have spots in my lungs. I had a dream last night that they had a new pill to cure mbc. I must have gone to bed after a harvoni commercial ( for Hep C). It was such a nice dream!!!! 👼

Hey this drug is brand new, and more for mbc instead just for treating breast cancer. I hope I do have good success! I found out I got approved for it, Yikes it’s 11k a month. I think Ibrance was 7k. I hate I have a full bottle of Ibrance. You can tell Drs make money, I was like okay Just like that I’m changing you to a 11k dollar a month med. Just forgot the Ibrance there is a better mbc med. I looked up and said this is more for mbc instead of just for treating breast cancer. It’s I pray easy on my Neutrophils and wbc. With Verzenio just on the market you know oncologist are going to want to use it. Hey if the Ibrance works for you stay with it. Just remember your dream did come true, for me. Since I had such a bad reaction to Ibrance first 3 weeks almost killed me. Seems like they are finally paying attention to us, mbc. Thanks friend!

Hi Clair. Good luck with new drug. Consider giving your oncologist your left over bottle of ibrance. My oncologist would help someone with a big copay by giving it to them

I already asked them that, they said they could not take it back because it’s already prescribed to me. I thought what a waste. But thanks!

That is a waste. My dr. Would have taken it. He tries to help those in need or who have to pay a lot for it.

Oh I will! I’m hoping for less side effects with wbc and Neutrophils. I start Tuesday and you can take it every day twice daily for full month.

So glad to hear the new drug is doing better for you and that there are more options available. Wondered about it after I recently saw some commercials.

FYI, my Ibrance cost is $13,746 a month. No insurance coverage--I think because I'm on Medicare (and have good supplement policy). Obviously there's no way my retirement income could cover that cost, but my oncologist's office has a person whose job is to assist patients with payment. They found a grant that paid for my first six months. When that expired, they found a foundation that is paying for this six months. I thank God for this assistance and have to trust Him for the future and not let myself worry about what happens when this grant ends.

That’s great! I start today. One lady said it gives her bad headaches and just started. But I will let ya know. I get mine paid for also for now. Through my oncologist office.

Glad your Ibrance is covered and hope your side effects are minimal.

No it’s Verzenio and I have not been hearing good things. I hear the stomach problems are bad. I don’t want to suffer and this scares me. He really did not give Ibrance a try. I mean he didn’t cut dose or try every other day or something. I’m the type that will not tolerate constant pain or being sick all the time. I will just take Faslodex and that’s it. I wish more people were on it so I could get more feedback.

100mg... And he didn’t even try the 75mg. After 3 weeks off still wbc 3.3 but Neutrophils went to almost 1.9 from.5. I was very disappointed when he said Verzenio because of side effects. I hope I get approved because they paid for Ibrance and he changed it without me taking one pill. They don’t think of average income people because he makes over 1 million a year. The Faslodex they approved, but not Verzenio yet. The Faslodex is expensive too.
