covid
I am having similar problems, I’ve had restless legs for 30+ years but it’s changed to constant aches and very uncomfortable, I have been referred to the Long Covid service who tell me this is likely due to Long Covid, maybe worth looking in to, good luck.
The most notable effect of Covid is that it causes inflammation which is the cause of most RLS. The olny thing I can suggest is that you try to reduce causing systemic inflammation from foods and take vitamin supplements to reduce existing inflammation. Foods which cause inflammation are mostly those containing refined sugar and starch (sweets and desserts, and bread, biscuits, cakes etc) which raise blood sugar, refined seed oils and margarine. The easiest way to avoid these is by changing your diet and only eating real food e.g. meat, fish, veg and nuts, and to only use olive oil, butter or animal fats. Lists of vitamins and foods which fight inflammation are available on line.
Hello Eryl, thank you for your reply at this point I will try anything. Is there any vitamins that you know are the most beneficial? I’ve had a look and they list quite a few?
Ibelieve tht vitmin D3 is the most obvious and as well as reducing inflammation is supports the immune system. I take 4,000 iu every day in Summer and doue the dose in the depths of winter whed daylight is scarce to produce it naturally in skin. The most important thing to do is to improve the diet as processing food destroys most vitamins and high blood sugar destroys vits D & C, and a few essential minerals.
Is it RLS? Have a look at the diagnostic criteria. The URGE to move is the main point. Do you lose sleep to RLS?rls-uk.org/symptoms-diagnosis
Long Covid treatment is non existent but many doctors prescribe anti depressants for unexplained nerve pain. AD can help nerve pain but will worsen RLS for the majority of patients.
Pregabalin is also given for nerve pain but it also helps RLS.
I suspect you don't have RLS.
Treatment for RLS will not help leg stings and aches caused by Covid, but you could have a look at the many doctors who are looking into Long Covid treatments on Twitter.
Many suggest anti histamines, nattokinase, alpha lipoic acid and good pro biotics to build up the gut where the Covid virus lingers.
The only effective treatments seem to be available privately. In the USA, anti virals are more likely to be given to clear the Covid virus from your body.
I really hope you find a treatment that helps.
