Welcome to the forum. 75 mg of pregabalin is a low dose. In fact it is a starting dose. You might want to try increasing it by 25 mg every couple of days.
Have you had your ferritin tested? Improving your ferritin to 100 or more helps 60% of people with RLS and in some cases completely eliminates their symptoms. When you see your doctor ask for a full iron panel. Stop taking any iron supplements 48 hours before the test, fast after midnight and have your test in the morning. When you get the results, ask for your ferritin and transferrin saturation (TSAT) numbers. You want your transferrin saturation to be over 20% but less than 45% and your ferritin to be at least 100. If they are not , post them here and we can give you advice. When you get your results, if your ferritin is not over 100, post them here and we can give you advice.
Check out the Mayo Clinic Updated Algorithm on RLS which will tell you everything you want to know including about its treatment and refer your doctor to it if needed as many doctors do not know much about RLS or are not uptodate on it
Hi, SueJohnson, Fr3dd13. For what it's worth, I just came back from my highly competent, new General Practioner (who will be coordinating with my neurologist and other physicians).
For past two weeks, I've been taking conservative dose of 50 mg, with understanding that this dose was to see how well tolerated (mindful of my age and such). Today, she increased to 100 mg daily till current supply is exhausted (about a week or so), and thereafter, will commence 150 mg daily till our next appointment two weeks hence.
Doctor recognized that full benefits, if any, of pregabalin likely would not be seen by me till daily dose had been increased beyond the initial starter dose(s).
Be well.
