Well guys my update ! I contacted PALS of the hospital 8am no answer obviously to early so dropped them email of my predicament, at 10 30 am sister of ward woke me , as I was totally knackered due to that episode , she told me PALS had been in touch with her and were sorting it and the team who instergated the change of meds would be up to see me ( had to pinch myself am I dreaming ) sure enough just now at 16.15 team were hear , cutting to the point , yes they agreed they should not have reduced to such a large dose ! EUREKA !!
and , wait for it ? Suggested that instead of reducing the dose in hospital and risking another episode that they contact my GP to mutually do it when I get home at a more controlled pace ! WHAT ! AT LAST SOMEONE WITH SENSE ,
Yes confirmed I am on to high a dose for RLS oh boy cannot believe it , the frightening part is that due to this forum and you guys I would have had no idea regarding this , in fact I showed them the comments on here , that's when they decided to leave it to myself and Gp to sort at home
Thank you once again for if it wasn't for you guys I would still be in agony , I only hope this episode can help other sufferers in this position because in every hospital there must be some poor wretch going through something similar ,
Thank you thank you
Oh by the way blood tests reveal I'm low in magnesium ???

That's such good news and sounds so promising! I was forced to go through PALS when I hadn't heard anything from my consultant for weeks despite my cries for help with my RLS. I was so so desperate. PALS sorted matters out successfully for me.
You've been treated so badly. I hope that from now on you'll get the right treatment. Wishing you all the best.
That is such fantastic news. Well done to Pippins and yourself for getting a conclusion to this sorry affair.
I hope you are able to pick up the pieces now and get back to getting better.
Your immediate concern is to get better from whatever has you in hospital.
If you are able to start lowering the Pramipexol- by one 0.088 tablet at first, and then going down another in a week's time. At that stage ,you should be on 2 tablets in the morning and 2 in the evening.
The first few weeks of withdrawal process are usually not too bad, but if you start getting bad experience, then stay for a week or two at that point, and then, when your body has adjusted, continue going down.
At this stage I'd be inclined to get off the morning dose- so go down by one tablet from the morning dose and then another after the next week.
So, after about 6 weeks or 2 months you should be on just 2 tablets at night.
This is the tough part of the journey.
Take a rest for a few weeks and then go down again. Depending on how you are going you can cut the 0.088 tablets and let your body guide you.
You may need Clonidine, Valium or Tramadol during this time.
Rest plenty, eat healthy, drink juice, take vit C.
Thank you , I will note these figures as for tramadol I made the mistake of coming off tramadol to fast , boy I was running round like Ken dodd on extacy !
Hi Smurf, with regards to the low magnesium, I take magnesium supplements every day which help to some degree. Hope you get back to some kind of normal soon. And your right of this site wasn't here there would be many many more people really suffering out there and I thank them for that. Good luck to you 😊
Glad you're finally getting the help you need. I can think of nothing worse than not being able to get any meds, mine is bad enough when I take them, it would be absolute hell without them.
Excellent news! There are many, many different types of Mg in supplements. I seem to like Magtein - it's also called brain magnesium. It's a patented supplement Magnesium L-Threonate. Here's a run down of the different Mg supplements...
Smurff so relieved for you. Not that it makes things easier in regards to your RLS symptoms, but finally they are listening and hearing. And with this forum. It’s a better pace to be.
Honestly wishing you all the best.
One thing I forgot to mention in regards to RLS is:
General Consideration i.e. iron levels, triggers. I wish I knew that before I went down the medication route.
Just research when you can, and arm yourself with this knowledge around RLS.
So things could change a bit in the future, great I'm pleased for you. I was in the hospital and I did keep some of my pills in my handbag as previously I suffered the same as you . I couldn't get the pills because they were changing shifts at the time I needed them. About the Magnesium oh, it does help. you can buy online and you can use it 2 soak your feet which works quite well or you can mix it in a spray and have it handy to spray your legs and rub it in. It seems to provide some relief as magnesium can be absorbed through the skin easily. you may have to look up the correct type of magnesium I can't remember off hand. Good luck oh, there is lots of help on here
