Hi my knowledgeable friends. Well my RLS has been up and down and getting me down too. Plus other personal issues. I am having counselling from work but just wondered what anti depressants could I take I know I can't take sertraline like I did in the past and I weaned off them, but my mood is low ive tried to go without them but thinking I might need to if my mood doesn't improve any advice appreciated. Don't know wot I'd do without this forum ❤️

Anti depressants

There are a few. Trazadone and Wellbutrin are amongst them. Wellbutrin is, I believe, only available in the US.
If you're getting depressed because of something specific then counselling will help you get through it.
However, in the longer term, if there's nothing specific, then it's not going to be of real benefit. CBT or mindfulness CBT will be of greater benefit.
Hi Manerva! Wellbutrin is available outside of the US as well.
Strictly speaking it is available in the UK, but it's prescription, for depression, is strictly restricted.
Funniy ebnough, the generic bupropion is availabke to help quit smoking!
I haven't yet worked that one out.
Hello
First of all, I'm glad you're getting counselling for your depression! Good for you for taking that step👏.
Second of all, and not unlike RLS, depression is tricky and you need to find the right drug/drug combo tailored to your specific situation. Manerva outlines the so-called "safe" anti-depressants for RLS. While one of these might do the trick for you, please don't feel that this is the limit to what you can choose from. For example, I have both severe RLS and severe depression and am on Lexapro/Cipralex (a so-called "unsafe" anti-depressant) without any harm to my legs.
Take care of yourself!
