Hello and welcome to the Research Opportunities community on HealthUnlocked!

My name is Anna, your community administrator. I am your go-to person for any questions you may have about being part of the community! As well as sharing weekly educational posts, I will also be the person posting new opportunities that you can take part in.

Before we delve into all things research, I wanted to properly introduce myself - and if you feel comfortable, invite you to do the same in the replies below.

If you are struggling to think of what to say, why not share your favourite snack or film? Or you might like to share what calms/restores you 😀

I am so excited to start this new journey with you all, and hope that we can all join together to help put the patient voice at the core of scientific research!

Hello, I would like to see, within the community a research group of people trying to moderate their alcohol use. Triggers, coping mechanisms, behaviours, pointers to academic research surrounding that as we move forward to help myself and others understand and reduce our intake. Is that possible ?

Research studies are not just drug trials. They can be phone or Zoom interviews by a University or organisation about a particular health condition. That can also lead to reviewing research papers, web sites and publications from a patient's viewpoint.

Hi all. I was diagnosed with CLL in 2018 and am on watch and wait with lymphocyte levels increasing every blood test. I try to keep very active, play golf (badly) walk the dog twice a day and garden but find I am having to fight feeling tired more and more. Am looking forward to understanding more about the effects of CLL and the treatments that are being developed for it.

Hi--Have been affected by depression since my early teens. I'm now 72 so would like to be without that part of living before there is no living left. Strangely, I love to laugh but those days don't come often. Been married 48 years to a good man who doesn't understand my depression and narcolepsy (I have that too), one child--my son, my sunshine, and 4 delightful cats who adopted me. Reading and learning are essential to me and I look forward to doing that here.

where to start - I’m 64 ( soon to be 65) and had hoped to be retiring - no such luck ! I work four days a week mainly from home as a manager in an admin role.

Since covid I’ve become a recluse and although my employers are trying to coax us back to the office , I keep on finding excuses not to go in. We’re supposed to go in 4 times a month but I’ve only managed twice since January .

I do suffer with the ‘black dog’ but I’m even reluctant to see a doctor . I’m on long term medication for an auto immune condition but I get that on repeat prescription. My friends are online contacts and I have a daughter who finished university last year but is yet to get a job so is a source of worry.

I love my needlework and managed two weekend retreats last year which I’m repeating this year - the first is in two years time although last years did result in a dose of covid !!!

I went on holiday for a week to St Ives and will be going again this year .

My sleep goes from one extreme to the other , I’m in a tired all the time phase at the moment and sometimes nod off in meetings.

I know I need help but not sure where to begin
