Unexpected Dive in PSA

Was diagnosed with Gleason 7 (4+3) in June. PSA was initially 19.76 in April, went up to 21.78 in May to confirm first high PSA, retested again in August at 19.39. Started taking Orgovyx on 9/11 and began IMRT (37 fractions, 70-78gy to prostate, SIB boost to 85-90gy) on 9/28. Had my PSA checked again on 10/10 and it is now 2.07 (!). No complaints, but I wasn't quite prepared for the sharp dive in PSA. Any ideas why this is the case? Is that unusual or the norm? Yes, I plan to discuss with my RO at our next meet. Thanks.

It is what is expected if your therapy is working.

Hi 805......My RO explained that the PSA will come down while on Orgovyx. I'm on this med for the last 5 months with one more to go. I began in June and my PSA when I began was 0.19.....BTW, I had a prostatectomy in July 2020, hence the difference in range values. My PSA 2 months after beginning Orgovyx was 0.04. My testosterone level before the meds was almost 500 and now down to 7. Interested to know your side effects as mine were not pleasant. I see some comments about the cost for this pill varies greatly. My cost for 6 months was $2,500 and was told this was a reduced price. Wishing you luck on this journey.

Thanks for your reply. I don't know what my testosterone was just prior to Orgovyx but it has ranged between 476-531 in the past few years. I am encouraged that Orgovyx has acted so quickly in reducing my PSA. Side effects since beginning five weeks ago haven't been as bad as I anticipated. Very light hot flushes a few times a day and during the night but nothing too bad. I've noticed my testicles have shrunk a bit however I still get erections during the night. Libido has declined but I have masturbated a couple of times just to make sure the plumbing still worked, which it did. I've also noticed my energy level has declined a bit. Usually more tired by the evening. Overall, very pleased with the medication so far and grateful I was able to get it. Not sure if you have tried this but you may want to contact the company via the website and enroll in their discount program. Your prescription plan may also cover it if your physician appeals any rejections. Mine did and the plan ultimately permitted it. That, along with the company discount program, I pay $0.

Thanks for your suggestion. Since I already paid for this medication for five past orders and the last refill of the six month program, I'm not sure if it is too late to negotiate any refund now. However, it is worth a try. Thanks
