in 1980 when my dad was diagnosed with pc, I imagined he was dying and carried that in my head for the next nine years. When I was diagnosed with pc stage IVa in 2017 it took me a year to realize I was not dying… and since then I’ve continued to live a very good life. Now I’m facing my psa on the rise again, and a third round of radiation, cyberknife to the spine and pelvis, or maybe chemo, the docs are still discussing. And looking back I realize my dad was not dying for those 9 years, he was living and loving his best life. Thanks Dad, sometimes it takes me a while but I do get it. So grateful.

Yep, we’re all dying. Some faster than others, but still heading to the same end game.

To me, it’s not a goal to live as long as possible if I’m not going to have any life during those years. If you’re miserable, what’s the point of extending that time just to be more miserable.

IMO you should aim to maximize your quality of life and to do it for as long as possible. I’d rather live for a year and have a great life, than 5 years being miserable and suffering.

Maybe that’s just me though .
