Good news to share!

After radical prostatectomy, chemo clinical trial, and radiation during 2001-2002, I watched my psa do its long slow climb. I began Lupron injections about five years ago. The number dropped to about 0.84, then began another long slow climb. After a PSMA PET scan revealed that there were "no distant metastaces," I began Darolutamide (5/7). After 12 days, my psa dropped from about 2.4 to 0.98. My last psa reading (7/28) was <0.100 ! I would love to see the word "undetectable," but for now, I am so grateful just to see the symbol "<" !

From other posts on this forum I think technically, undetectable is <0.04. If your test only goes down to <0.1, next time get an ultrasensitive PSA test. On Quest, it is called post prostectomy PSA test and goes down to <0.02. According to Tall Allen, undetectable for 2 years is considered cured, but I dont believe we are ever "cured" totally. The cells are just dormant and hiding.

Thanks for the info.

Thats great news! You should be able to have your doctor order the post prostectomy PSA test so you don’t have to pay yourself at Quest.
