I'm mhghu and new here. I'm 61, Gleason 6, and my PSA is 8.5. It was about 4 in 2013; about 5 in 2015 and 2016. From 2017 to these days (2019 December) began to increase gradually from 6 to 8.5. When I started to make exercise and drinking protein shakes after working out (2 times/wk) 15 days ago, my PSA went from 8.5 to 10.5 in 15 days. I stopped the protein shakes, but did not measured my PSA yet. I will measure it after a week. My question is that; whether whey protein powder increases the PSA level and has negative effect on prostate cancer. Thanks a lot.

Correct answer is ---- no one knows. There is research producing answers on both sides of the question and studies you might participate in. With your Gleason score are you in active surveillance?
Yes, I measure my PSA every month. Since my Gleason is 6, I think my situation is not very critic.
You are up to date: Gleason 6 according to the Swedish studies should be Active Surveillance. The typical situation seems to be that "waiting for the other shoe to drop" anxiety of living with a cancer inside of you and "not doing anything about it.". Some men and their families cannot abide that. So they take on treatment (that they do not need) and buy themselves the side effects of that treatment. I have had to fight with the radiologist who wanted to buzz me after six months of hormone suppression and with the oncologist who wanted to buzz me after my surgery "because we don't know." AND "fight" is the right word. Tuesday will be the 1 year anniversary of my surgery. So far, PSA = 0. For me at nearly 76, the calculation may be different from yours. Hard to push back against all that expertise. But I am the one who experiences the side effects, not them
No- whey protein shakes will not affect PSA. Some have questioned the effect of casein, but not whey. Best evidence so far is that dairy is not a culprit:
