Just finished my last EBRT treatment had no side effects whatsoever during treatment my RO told me just stop flomax now. I just read that you should taper off flomax. Thoughts? Is it safe to stop cold turkey without tapering off?

I finished RT 18 months ago, and have been off ADT, except for Avodart, for a year, and I am still on Flomax. If I drop a dose, I usually notice reduced flow. You have to evaluate your own situation, for your specific needs. I'd get a second opinion, and not from Dr. Google.

I was taking Flomax twice a day. When it was time to stop using it, my Urologist told me to start by taking it twice on Monday, once on Tuesday, twice on Wednesday, once on Thursday, etc for a week. The following week I took it once a day, everyday. The following week I took it once every other day. Then I stopped taking it. Could I have stopped cold Turkey....well, his method worked fine for me. Bob

I stopped Flomax suddenly, a few months after my Brachytherapy and need for a catheter last year, as it was making me totally incontinent. Going cold turkey certainly helped, but the incontinence returned with a vengeance two or three months later, and I still have it even without the Flomax, although I find that my new prescription for Myrbectriq is helping a good deal.
