On the WEB there seems to be information regarding Soy Bean / Tofu, some articles say it has the ability to REDUCE Cancers and others say it has the ability to INCREASE Cancers.

What is somebody to make of it????

Anybody with nutritional training or experience that can add some sanity to the subject?

I'm no expert but from what I can gather soya milk is a good alternative to cow's milk however when my husband was first diagnosed with cancer I looked into choline and it's effect on prostate cancer - high choline not being a good thing - and soya sausages had a really high choline content given that choline is associated with meat

If you are vegan or vegetarian your gut doesn't make the same amount of TAMO as a meat eater TAMO is a factor in prostate cancer high TAMO not good

My husband has soya milk instead of cow's at least one vegan meal a week - usually two not much red meat plenty of fish and free range chicken

I think it's safe to say soya milk is good but make sure it isn't GM - genetically modified

Here is a link to a web page at the National Cancer Institute on soy and prostate cancer: cancer.gov/about-cancer/tre...

It looks like the research they found indicates a small, but still measurable, benefit from various compounds in soy and no significant adverse effects, but it's worth reading the whole document to get the details.

For further info, here's a link to the "health professional" version that gives more of the scientific data: cancer.gov/about-cancer/tre...

I feel it is like all other foods. Processed soy is not as good as non processed soy. My husband is a vegan (but not an oreo vegan 😊) We stay away from processed soy like soy milks, tofu, isolated soy protein, soy flour etc just as we do from processed regular foods. But we do eat some fermented soy products like tempeh as well as a good quality miso paste in homemade vegetable broth with seaweed.

IMO, in the experience I have had as part of a PCA Support Group for 20+ years, most of these so-called food remedies and cures are just grasping at "easy" but unsuccessful ways to cure cancer with little or no good result. The saying heard so often is....., "if I would have known then what I know now, I would have done things different." Again, just my opinion.

I believe that using 'soy' products is NOT the game changer / cure that many want to point to.

There are no clinical trials that I am aware of that would PROVE a hypothesis for either case.

Soy products are generally viewed favourably for all kinds of reasons, but I would not rely on it to save my life.
