Hello,

Can anyone provide some feedback regarding their experience with a radiation process called Cyberknife? I understand there is not a lot of history out there regarding long term cancer recurrence rate and long term side effects.

Thanks!

It seems to have cured me in the three years since treatment.

Be aware that some insurers will only pay for it in the early stage.

I had it 8 years ago. The generic term is SBRT - CyberKnife is the brand name for Accuray's platform. It has been done since 2003, and the long-term effects certainly are known. The longest running trial is 10 years - same as IMRT.

In order of the tightest targetting

o ‎IMRT 180 degrees

o ‎Tomotherapy 360 degrees

o SBRT/‎Cyberknife sphere for smaller Target

o ‎Proton beam for smallest Target

What are your other treatment options and factors to consider?

At this point I am being lead towards either AS or surgery - RALP is my preference - first radiology oncologist does not recommend radiation due to my low PSA of .8 with a palpable node
