any positive outcomes?

I had a private viability scan at 8w 3D last week (I’m now 9w and 1D)and although everything looked as it should in terms of gestation/size etc the heartbeat was slow. From what I can see on Dr Google it would seem a miscarriage is imminent but I wondered if anyone had similar and went on to have a successful pregnancy?

I’ve had my booking in Appt with the midwife already and unfortunately neither she or my GP will refer me to my local EPU as I am not bleeding-even though I’ve had 5 previous miscarriages 🙄 so I feel like a sitting duck at the moment and driving myself crazy!

Hi, ah I’m sorry it’s such a worry! I don’t have experience of a slow heart rate I’m afraid but was wondering if you could self refer to the EPU? My GP also refused to refer me once, and my booking appt wasn’t until I was almost 12 weeks so I rang my local EPU myself. They were so understanding & welcoming - got me in within a few days to be checked out so could be worth a try to get some reassurance. Hoping all goes well for you xx

Hi, I know it’s hard but try and not worry, I didn’t have experience with slow heartbeat however I was referred to the EPU due to having three miscarriages, I didn’t have any bleeding so I would give them a call direct and see what they say. Xx

I'm sorry it's not an easy time for you. Speak to your GP again. Given your complex history the local EPU might take you in.

Are you on progesterone pessaries? If not worth getting them. I forget until which week you can get them. I think it's week 12.

Hello, I am sorry you are feeling so worried, this can be all consuming, I can very much relate especially as you have suffered a lot of loss in the past. Most EPU units offer a reassurance scan after 8 weeks if you had three or more miscarriages. My GP did not know this and initially sent me the standard placeholder message "unless I have symptoms of bleeding or pain he can't refer me", so I advocated for myself and told him that I was expressly told by the EPU nurses after my last miscarriage that for any subsequent pregnancies they would be very happy to offer a reassurance scan. Have a look on your local EPU's website, the referral criteria are usually listed on there. Wishing you all the best and hope you will have reassuring news soon! X
