First trimester

Hi all

Only just found out I am pregnant and was wondering if any tips for the first trimester as in eating healthy, exercising as I try to keep fit. Sadly I am smoking so that would stop and not more coffee more wine for me

All your advice is greatly appreciated

Thank you

Georgiana

The NHS page has some great advice for when you find out you're pregnant.

I would say if you haven't already start taking at folic acid and vitamin D or a pregnancy specific multi vitamin.

Congratulations

Firstly congratulations 💞, Damm I miss wine but for my first gotta do what’s right haha , so yeah I say fruits, vegetables very good to eat with your meals . Water of course , exercise try not to over do it as your first trimester. But swimming is something that’s really good throughout your pregnancy. I have literally gone off eating fish , something I love . You do have to be careful cause they do say don’t eat a lot of that but . If you do your research it will give your more info in depth . Xx

Congratulations on your pregnancy! Try to rest as much as you can, since you are growing a baby inside you:) Take naps when you can, this will help a lot for your baby to grow, my midwife told me this was crucial. Take folic acid and Vitamin D, and your pregnancy vitamin, with a supplement made with fish oil without vitamin A. Your first scan will tell you if you are at any risk of pre-eclampsia, and in that case, you might need to take 75mg aspirin every evening. Drink plenty ( water, juice, ginger lemon tea for the nausea), eat healthy, avoid takeaway food ( the NHS has very good tips for healthy snacks). And finally try to enjoy that pregnancy knowing that we live in hard times and we have so much to worry about. The NHS has a lot of tips on how to do breathing exercises...

I was a smoker when I found out i was pregnant. I had smoked for 18 years. I went onto a vape for a couple of weeks and weened myself off it quite quickly, it helped that morning sickness kicked in around 7 weeks. I didn't restrict my coffee if im honest. Gave up wine and all that jazz but enjoyed coffee once my morning sickness went. I even ate a medium rare steak a couple times. Try not to put to much pressure on yourself and take it a day at a time. Congratulations xx
