Dear friends, I write little, but I always read your posts with great interest and it seems to me that I know many of you personally.
I hope I'm not politically incorrect (I'll take this risk anyway) in saying how sorry I am about Brexit.
I deeply believe that the EU will never be the same without the United Kingdom, but I also believe that the UK this way renounces those values of openness that have made it a cultural reference point.
My father was an Italian officer during WW2 and spent a lot of time alongside English officers in Monte Cassino, always keeping a vivid memory of them ... even for this alone I am enormously sorry that we are no longer in a common home (however turbulent!) and that from now on, trade between our countries can become more complicated.
I am s also thinking about a lot of opportunities I have had to participate with European colleagues in cultural school exchanges (I was headmaster and I organized and participated in many Erasmus programs on different topics)... our British colleagues took an active part and we built relationships and friendships that still last.
Forgive me if this post can cause divisions that's not what I want, but only that you know how sorry I am😢
