The NCBI in the USA have written an article about the scientific differences and the benefit of the N95 mask over and above the medical mask which is usually green and that mask is seen worn by the majority of people wearing masks especially so by those in the NHS. It seems apparent due to other countries having results that the N95 mask with it's clip that is used to fit the bridge of the nose better than the 'medical' green mask may be the reason that the N95 white mask is more efficient than the green one.
Why is it that the South Koreans are still not being paid attention to when the lack of that attention to detail may well be causing and have caused counties with a massive death toll to not alter their ideas forthwith?

Hi Micklemus,
That's a really interesting question and thank you for bringing it up!
My feeling is that we still have lots to learn about covid19 and mistakes are bound to have been made. If you think back to the beginning of the crisis, the WHO was adamant that hand washing was the key to safety. Gradually, with the emerging science, this seems to be only partially true. I don't think it's a coincidence that levels of infection have dropped faster since mask wearing became more prevalent.
We have to feel our way because no-one really knows that much yet. And I think it's always a good idea, and can't do harm to follow the advice of the latest science without worrying too much about what we were doing wrong previously. I think too that one of the reasons why mask wearing was not encouraged initially was the lack of availability. Many governments worldwide were struggling to provide PPE for front line medical staff and even home made masks had to suffice in some instances. Now many people are making fortunes from the manufacture of masks and hand sanitisers and you can buy them anywhere.
There's one other factor to consider in countries like New Zealand and North Korea where infection rates were so well contained. In countries where infection rates were high, immunity is now also higher. We don't know how long it will last, but it's a start. Those who began with a high mask wearing incidence are the countries where immunity will be lower for longer and the knock-on effect might be that they are at increased danger from the virus in future.
I have a Very Good, double layered Mask, that covers most of my face. I'm covered from just below my Nose, to well bellow my Chin and almost to my Ears too. I found it through an 'Independent' Supplier- actually the Hairdresser that I last used- which was not my regular one. It has clearly been 'Made' by a Person, rather than a machine, with considerable 'attention to detail'. Cost wise? 'Just A Donation' I put, including the 'Tip', to the actual Hairdresser, about £2:20... probably a bit more- handful of Change, and all that.
I am extremely pleased, with this mask, and wear it whenever I'm out of my Flat. This can't possibly be the Only Supplier, of these Masks- I'm certain there are Others, no doubt Many of them. Perhaps look in your Local Papers, Church Magazines or even the Local 'Advertiser'. (Didn't 'Old Flo', in the Bakers, have a new Mask?)
Sorry that I can't be more 'Help', in locating a suitable Mask..... Definitely Worth 'Finding' though!
Stay Safe everyone.
