Aggressive shoppers

Roukaya profile image
60 Replies

I usually write on this post as many are supportive

I was grocery shopping when I was told abruptly to stop touching food but I replied how on earth do it put the food items in the shopping trolley if I do not handle to see what I am buying

In this Lock Down either there are those who are polite or those who are aggressive and bullies

Good morning

I hope you are well

It is about my flat and the costs I have incurred with the renovations

I paid for the doors of the flat to be repainted and for a new mattress with curtains as well as cushions and a clean and this came to £1, 100 which was expensive but a good job

A new tenant is asking for me to empty the bedroom to remove the wardrobes, and the new mattress with the bedframe

I asked the contractor to do this but he is charging £880 to paint a small bedroom, remove the wardrobes and have a new carpet fitted in

He is offering to buy the bed frame and

mattress for £130 and he is charging me £750 in total

I wonder if you could give me your opinion

Kind Regards

in reply to Roukaya

It sounds expensive to me, why don't you try to get a quote from one or two other people and compare them. Most people will give you a free quote for work.

I do not know anyone in London

I think if the tenancy goes ahead, I will ask the agents to ask Wandsworth Council to remove the wardrobes and I will ask for the bedframe and mattress to go to the British Heart Foundation

in reply to Roukaya

You might find someone or a company online who is local..

Roukaya profile image
Roukaya in reply to

Thank you for reply

The property is in the hand of a Estate Agent

I live in Derby and the property is in London

The renovations have already been done

It is just to remove the wardrobe and to give the bed frame and mattress to the British Heart Foundation

The tenant is due to move in this Friday depending whether her references are suitable

in reply to Roukaya

Ok, phone council or British heart then.

Have a great day...

Good idea. If its a member of staff who says that fair enough but another shopper that's not really on!

Thanks for reply

As if life is not difficult enough than to deal with bullies

I hope you eventually find the job you are looking for

in reply to Roukaya

I will go somewhere that's right for me when I'm good and ready is my view.

in reply to

True, staff OK because they are handling the stuff more than most, the other shoppers more than likely touch things themselves..

Do you find shopping to be difficult?

Roukaya profile image
Roukaya in reply to

There are special offers in Marks and Spencer’s and I careful in choosing what to buy

I do not find shopping difficult just the attitude of others who get aggressive if you stand in their way

in reply to Roukaya

Report them, a lot of shops have security people on the floor these days.

Roukaya profile image
Roukaya in reply to

I already reported a staff member of Marks and Spencer’s last week as she snatched aggressively her trolley from me

I went to the Supervisor lodged the complaint and saw them both laughing

If it gets to much next time , I will report it

Thank you

in reply to Roukaya

Contact the Head office if you need to..OR take your business elsewhere. You could also if you have Facebook and there is a M&S page on it post your experience on it and make it public, see how they react then.

Take care.

No I just do things in my spare time at home.

Thank you

I have just tried to call Marks and Spencer’s ,I waited until they put me through and then got cut off

I will try again tomorrow or Monday

If a customer is treated like this , I can’t imagine what it is like working with that particular team

in reply to Roukaya

They sound awful, I'd not want to work there.

The fb one?

in reply to

I don't exactly like it at present but I can cope with it OK but will only go when needed asking myself is it necessary and if it isn't not go.

in reply to

It won't be like this for much longer though, it should get better soon.

Good afternoon

I hope you are well

In all of this she did not have gloves or a mask

I had both a mask and gloves and still told off.

The attitude of bullies and intimidation as you say exists everywhere

I hope you are keeping well and preparing a birthday 🍰 treat for your husband

Roukaya profile image
Roukaya

I agree I had both the mask and gloves on and I expect it is resentment that I was choosing what to buy in Marks and Spencer’s and I kept her waiting .

I expect this attitude will be the same as more shops open next week

I only thank God I do not need to work with people like this

It is interesting to know you experienced much the same

Afrohair profile image

It’s only if you touch something and put it back you are supposed to buy what you touch 😂

Oh dear I agree with handyman I would give a look of freck off and carry on with my day love marks and Spencers food especially Percy pig sweets try enjoy your day and forget about such sad pointless Bully's xxx

This is not the first bad experience I have had in Marks and Spencer’s

I will not let it get to me

Just an experience

Good evening

Thank you for reply

I am also a caring person

My Mother the original scary spice

She is a self made entrepreneur

Quite scary at time’s

She does people’s voices and mannerisms

She can be quite funny at times

She speaks English with a French Accent and her dialect quite funny at time’s

She has a part time retired driver and he is a retired gentleman and a bit greedy for money

He often used to tell us that his son in law gets paid in Euros only and he buys his grandchildren Oreo cookies

I often tell my Mother how is your driver who only talks of being paid in Euros and that his grand children eat Oreos

Afrohair profile image

I agree and I can understand with fruit and veg as you don’t want to take home bad fruit but assistants make labels for a reason and spend a lot of time doing so.if there put randomly on a shelf that’s something what needs communicating with shop assistants cause that should not be happening and sounds like terrible management

Roukaya profile image
Roukaya in reply to Afrohair

I can tell you something about bad management

I was at M and S on 4th June , the trolley was snatched in front of me twice

I made a complaint to Supervisor and I sae him laughing with the person I had complained about

Again I tried to call customer service and after waiting ten minutes I was cut off

I will make a complaint on Monday and see what happens

I do not not make my voice heard , this level of service will continue

Afrohair profile image
Afrohair in reply to Roukaya

That’s a shame I hope you manage to sort things out on Monday x

in reply to Roukaya

That's not on snatching trollies off people!

Dalia74 profile image

Dear Roukaya, bullies need to be dealt with in one way only and that’s to give them a “feck off” stare and either report them online or on twitter publicly ans then to ignore them. Hope it doesn’t spoil your day.

Roukaya profile image
Roukaya in reply to Dalia74

Good evening

I will not let it worry me

Been through worse especially from my Mothers side of the family

I often pray to find a job but when I see bully like this I ask God to provide me with the right job

How is your Mum

Mine a little scary

She is not a happy bunny at the moment

Dalia74 profile image
Dalia74 in reply to Roukaya

You will find the right job. 🙏🏽

My last boss was a bully and I left because of him, it was affecting my health too much. Had nightmares about him for months... it does affect mental state even if you don’t want it to.

The lockdown has been a blessing as it’s helped me slow down pace of life and let self healing take place.

My mum is scary too. It was her birthday on Wednesday just me and her.

Life is too short to be worried or scared though, remember this too shall pass 🌈🌸💪🏾

Good Evening

I hope you are well

It is terrible to be bullied

My last job ended in 2008 and then I moved to Derby and cared for my Father and managed his Business

I suppose by being your own boss , no one will ever bully or intimidate you

I think all I am seeking is a years work experience and try to pass the three exams

If by Gods will , I will go it alone and become self employed

I would love to drive my own little private practice for providing affordable legal advice for the elderly

The more I face barriers the harder I will try

What else is there for me ?

I hope you are well

Thank you for your very kind words

What is about Mums at a certain age ?

I think I always complain I am lonely

But the onus is always on us to make a better life fir ourselves

Again God helps those who helps themselves

❤️

M&S staff are awful. I had an experience where the cashier rubbed off the security panel at the back of a gift card. I reported it immediately, and was told she should not do that.

Another time I am convinced the same cashier actually stole my gift card. It had £150 on it. I didn't realise and therefore lost it for good.

I do not generally lose things and believe they probably distracted me at their tills and 'forgot' to return it.

The one near me where it happened closed down. It was awful, the management was never to be seen, most of the cashiers were old biddies who'd been there for ages and thought they could do what they liked.

In the old day M&S recruitment policies were known to be discriminatory. Maybe they feel its beneath them to 'serve' you.

Good evening

I hope you are well

I have shopped at M and S for years and as a result of the Lock Down there has been a complete change of staff

The former staff were always kind and polite and I had never experienced such inadequate customer service

I think since the new staff have come , I there is a change for the worse

I will try on Monday to complain as I have tried already twice

They even take your number and do not call back

It is regrettable that many of us are treated at face value

I may travel to Turkey for my Birthday by myself

I really miss travelling and going on excursions

How will you spend your day tomorrow

I will try to make that call on Monday

I hope everything goes well for tomorrow

I hope your husband had a very nice birthday for tommorow

I absolutely love Turkey, the beautiful beaches , the incredible food it is the home of the donned kebab and the people are incredibly warm and welcoming

I miss the travel and eating out

Hi Roukaya, I am sorry to hear this, no one should feel bullied or intimidated anywhere and especially not grocery shopping. Always report immediately and do not let the bullies get away with thinking this is a normal behavior. This is not your problem, it is there problem, arrogant people lack foresight. Try not to let this ruin your evening. xxx

Good evening

Thank you for your kind words

I am a sensitive person and I did say I need to touch the goods before they go in the trolley

After that she agreed with what I had said

Then I walked off

But I will contact customer services on Monday and explain today’s incident and another incident I had experienced

I hope you are well

Thank you for being kind enough to answer

So sorry you had a horrid experience.

Hi Roukaya,

Unfortunately there are always going to be people who think they have the moral high ground. I've had several instances of this in recent days. Yesterday while my husband and I were out driving, a fellow motorist judged him to be wrong, in a traffic situation and chose to wag his finger and shake his head at us. And someone else on a social media site, misjudged my comment on a question and attacked me in return. It's then hard to put down and return our mind to peace, spoiling our day. But sadly the intolerant and judgmental are always with us. You can let them make you feel inferior, you can react (which is often a really bad thing), or you can ignore them and just carry on with what you are doing. Whichever route you choose, their ignorance will upset you for a while, but that's absolutely normal. We hate being personally attacked. It's our ego which reacts as we feel humiliated.

It's just a small setback and please remember that words are just words. Because it's said doesn't make the speaker necessarily right.

Good morning

Thank you for your kind words of honestly

I realise that yesterday was a little set back given the magnitude of the current pandemic.

I am beginning to realise those who are kind are outstanding and those who are selfish and greedy be always be so

The Pandemic will highlight and showcase the innate personalities of us all

I know which one I will choose .
