Today confirmed no need for surgery (whew). Last week plaster cast replaced with fibreglass one, which was (painfully) molded to keep a piece of bone from separating further from where it was supposed to be, and that bone didn't move any more. In four weeks I return for removal of cast and probably fitted with a splint. That's the day before our rebooked journey to Ontario, where today would originally have been our final full day there, so rather fortuitous timing, wouldn't have wanted to have to change dates again.
PMRwise the zero pred still seems okay. Have pains and stiffness, most likely related to osteoarthritis and also to the shock of landing on hard concrete, but absolutely none of the original pre-diagnosis problems like difficulty getting out of bed or certain limitations in range of motion. I know an injury can trigger flares or relapses, so don't think I'm entirely out of the woods yet, but so far so good.

Fingers crossed that all goes and continues well. Give my love to Ontario when you are there. Need to get out there to my sisters house on Lake Clear before they move to somewhere smaller and more manageable.
Tripped on the sidewalk 🙄. Feel better about myself after seeing all the halt and the lame in waiting room today, and having nice chat with young woman sitting beside me - because her recent accidents have been as dumb and random as mine!
