If they are calcium and vit D combined supplements with 5-600mg calcium per dose - you should be fine, Two such doses are the usual, taken separately, as the body can only cope with about 500mg calcium intake at a time and most recommendations is we take 1000-1200mg extra. It does depend on you and your diet - if it is really calcium-rich, then you may get away with 1 or even none - unless you are on a bisphosphonate medication and then you MUST take some supplement.
Two doses is a good idea, but remember to take it a few hours away from pred as they interfere with each other's effectiveness. I always like to remind people that Vitamin K2 (not K1) is also essential for good bone health as it is key to sending calcium to the bones where you want it.
Glad your holiday was so relaxing. Happy memories for this year.
I agree, ask Gp to prescribe them. My GP wanted me to take Alendronic Acid but as I was refused a Dexa scan ( no idea why, possibly cost ?. ) I declined, said I would rather just get myself some vitamins, so she offered to prescribe them instead- Adcal-D3…I also buy the vitamin K2 mk7 to take as well which I read about on this forum ..,don’t know what I would do without all the info I have gathered on here..thanks all.
I have to agree with you about the advice...But if I'm honest... I'm quite happy buying my own vits....as it means I know I'm buying exactly what I need...
