Morning ,
anyone used acupuncture with PMR ???
Now you have asked the question you will see related posts….
Don't think anyone has claimed to have much success with it for PMR - for the add-ons maybe.
Yes. It did nothing for me except to make a hole in my bank balance and sometimes it was quite painful. Others, I believe, have found it helpful. You can only try.
Thank you ladies ,my initial thoughts , as with all of this journey , suck it and see , but also aware of my bank balance !
The only thing acupuncture did for me was to reduce my bank balance.
thanks for comment
I had it from a physio before getting a PMR diagnosis from the GP. It did nothing at all. Though it had worked a few months previously on a back injury.
I am having acupuncture for a back issue. I have GCA
my GP did acupuncture on my for neck a head and shoulder issues pre covid. I also had it at the beginning of my LVV journey after I totally overdid it with my muscles. It definitely helped. But it's expensive and since I retired last year I can't justify that cost really. I'm not sure it would help with PMR though.
No benefit for me either. Tried CBD oil too and that made me nauseous. I have discovered though, that the pains I got in my neck and shoulders were from the accumulated effects of poor posture, tight muscles and myofascial pain syndrome. Found a brilliant Chiropractor who has made an incredible difference after just two treatments over two months. He's now left the practice though. Grrh....
This thread gives negative impression about acupuncture. My experience (not related to PMR) is very positive. For example, about a month ago I have hurt my lower back/glute muscle area. It only took one visit to get it fixed.
My impression is that it depends on the problem one has and the skill of the person who is doing the acupuncture.
thank you for all responses . I’ve not been having acupuncture since diagnosis, so will decide whether or not to do it going forward .
Prior to finally being diagnosed with PMR, my wife convinced me to try acupuncture. The first 2 sessions yielded relief for a couple hours each time. The 3rd session put me in so much pain that I swore to never go back again - and didn't. The minimal short term relief wasn't worth it in my case. I was desperate at that point too, having no idea what was wrong with me.
oh dear , not nice at all ☹️sorry to hear that .
After 3 months of pain and no proper diagnosis I tried acupuncture for 6 sessions. It could be helpful for other conditions but for P.M.R. it was completely ineffectual. So I'd say don't waste your money 😏
