Dry sour mouth all the time. Started a few weeks ago but been on prednisone since April. Could it be that I was also on an antibiotic (bactrin) for UTI for 10 days and currentlyt i finished yesterday. Taking 20 mg prednisone and plan to reduce to 17.5 mg on 7/30.

Could it be reflux? Is worse at any particular time?

Bactrim can leave a metallic or bitter taste in the mouth though as I read what you say it started before you were put on Bactrim?

I had a horrible taste in my mouth when I first started on pred. After googling, I wrap the tabs in a small piece of a date. As long as none of the tab touches my tongue, I don't get the bad taste.

It could well an after effect of the antibiotic.Have you got any other symptoms like heat in the mouth or white layer on your tongue.

Many people get thrush after an oral antibiotics and need a one tablet treatment to clear it.

Drinking green tea , and gargling with cool green tea can reduce the taste , it can also help reduce the reflux.

Sparkling water can also help reduce the taste and reduce the sharp taste in the mouth.
