Update on remission - itchy feet!

Hi all

I am down to 13.25 mg. Still feeling well. The aches and pain are from moving much more than I could before, and it feels good!

But one weird symptom creeps in. Itchy feet. Is comes in the evening when I lay down. Not every evening, maybe more after a day with walking much. It is very severe and intense, and scratching only helps for a minute or so. It is on the top of my feet and sides of my ankles. Luckily it goes away after ½ -1 hour. But while is is ongoing I cannot do anything else that scratch!

Has anyone experienced this? I know that is is not really a MR symptom, but any advice how to deal with it?

I may have RS3PE, but is is not a symptom of that either.

How bizarre - haven't come across that before!

I had strange itchy feet but it was the soles. Always in bed in the early part of the night. I had PMR at the time and was on prednisolone but can't remember the dosage. Don't think it was particularly linked to exercise perhaps more the lack of it? No idea why.

Yes I have the itchy feet at night quite often. I am 2 years with PMR started at 20mg down to 13.5, a few flares so a difficult time  going down on the pred. Curious about the itching too.

Can I ask if you had/have elevated CRP? I am looking for another than PMR underlying cause for the itch.

Hi Krillemy. I have the exact same experience as you regarding itchy feet..,also same place (top of feet and around the ankle bones. Drives me mad at times - and like you almost always at night when lying in bed. Once l start scratching it makes it worse and l can’t stop. I’ve been off prednisone for 3 weeks now so can’t really put it down to that, so guess it’s more to do with the condition itself. I think a cold wet cloth might help relieve the itching - although having said that, as it nearly always happens when lying in bed l can’t be bothered to go through the rigmarole of getting out of bed so put up with the itching until l eventually fall asleep!

Occasionally suffer from this and No I don't know why!! However using either Doublebase flare relief (blue base container) or Doublebase Dry Skin (pink base container) did the trick. Both available from the famous online store named after a river!

Which suggests it is due to dry skin ... Which does tend to itch.

Yes I will give it a shot :)

OK - I will give it a shot with a good skin creme. Stated last night. I don´t fell that my skin is dry, but definitely worth a shot.

krillemy, I had no history of itchy feet until I bought new socks online. My old cotton socks were never a problem in this regard but the new ones were! They were synthetic. I gave them away! If your problem is solved by this, I'll be delighted!

Well, maybe it could have something to do with socks, as I do not wear them in the sommer, and I just now started to - as it is getting cold here in Denmark. I must notice if it is worse after wearing sock all day. Right now it has been gone the last days. maybe the cream does the trick
