Has anyone with Fuchs had cataract surgery? How good was your vision after surhery?

Cataract surgery and Fuchs Endothelial Dystrophy
Not sure you are on the right forum - this is PMRGCAuk, a rheumatic condition. Or are you just casting about looking for someone else?
Sorry! I want to post my question but unsure how/ where!
Oh yes, get that - but WHO do you want to ask? Each forum is dedicated to a particular health problem - I'd have thought an eyes forum would have been more likely.
Yes Eyes forum but I don't kmow how to find it Help!
DL has suggested a couple. I don't know anything about Fuchs - might the Macular forum be helpful? Though it doesn't seem very active
healthunlocked.com/maculars...
Sorry can't be more helpful - at the top right is a search box - if you put a few keywords in there it might suggest a forum where it is talked about besides the macular one
Might be worth looking at this RNIB - rnib.org.uk
There are a few forums on HU which deal with sight issues, so one of them maybe?
This? Although it doesn’t p seem very active - healthunlocked.com/sight-lo...
Try the RNIB website rnib.org.uk/eye-health/eye-...
Well….I’d never heard of Fuchs etc but I looked it up on RNIB (thanks piglette and DL) and it rings bells with way my eyes are. - though not usually too bad - anyway very interesting. You never know what you’re going to learn on here 😊
Hello Dossy. My husband has fuchs & had Cataract surgery after which the fuchs was diagnosed. The surgery didn’t have a good outcome as it stirred up the Fuchs that he didn’t know he had at the time; if they had known, they would have approached the surgery differently. You need to go to a surgeon who specialises in corneal diseases for the cataract removal. There are 2 forums I have joined, one in the uk & one in USA & I have found the latter to be very helpful & they will answer all of the questions you have. It is cornealdystrophyfoundation.....
They will send you out very helpful booklets on the condition & if you live in the uSA they will recommend surgeons
I had the cataract surgery plus the partial corneal transplant 3 years ago. The forum Janstr recommended is excellent and they will guide you through whatever you need to do for your Fuchs. It is imperative that you have your cataracts fixed by a corneal expert.
I've had both PMR and Fuchs, so I guess I'm in the intersection. I've had a DSEK in both eyes and, in each case, they did a cataract operation at the same time - even though it wasn't strictly necessary. One eye was fine but the vision in the other didn't improve very much. Earlier this year (3 years after the operation) I had YAG laser treatment in that eye & it made an enormous difference. Not perfect but a huge improvement.
There was a forum called Fuchs Friends UK run by the Corneal Dystrophy Foundation but it's currently inactive for some reason. (It was nowhere near as helpful as PMRGCAuk anyway!) You could try the Worldwide version via Janstr's link above.
Good luck!
