I have had GCA for 3 1/2 years and been on tocilizumab for 2 1/2 years. I never have normal blood tests and on November 8th my results were normal. Also I am quite suddenly feeling so much better and was amazed that I could walk up the hill and back with no trouble at all. Since take Tocilizumab I have been better any way but not as well as I am suddenly now. Do you think I could be in remission? Having more bloods on January 8th. I am still very achy at night and when I get up which I expect is the PMR which I also have. What does anyone think? Best wishes to all you lovely people
aGCA maybe in remission?: I have had GCA for 3 1/... - PMRGCAuk
aGCA maybe in remission?
Who knows! But the PMR should also be in remission - it is just a part of GCA.
Hope it is - I assume you are not still on pred?
Certainly sounds like you could be at a turning point for GCA and PMR , it can happen like that with any Chronic Condition that is self limiting or can go into remission. Just keep taking it slowly , don't pick up speed in your activities to quickly yet , and fingers crossed you may be on the downhill stretch . Good luck and keep your hopes up xx
How wonderful that would be if you are at last in remission. I have also had GCA for 3/1/2, but only being treated with pred & still on 6.5mg - are you still on pred?
I have moments when I think it is going but as soon as I taper be it on the DSM I know it hasn't, even though my bloods show no inflammatory markers. My consultant says that this can often be the case.
However you have been on Tocilizumab so it could have worked its magic - do hope so but go gently.
Good luck.
Keeping fingers crossed for you, Christine. Happy 2020. Cheers from New Zealand.
Happy New Year Christine 🥂
