amitryptoline allergy?

hi all. I’ve been taking amitryptoline for almost 2 weeks and am itchy on my legs and stomach, with some small red spots. It’s nothing major but is annoying and seems to be getting worse. I just wondered if anyone else had this experience and whether it was an allergy or a side effect that will go away?

Hello, that doesn't sound very pleasant for you. That unfortunately can be a side effect of any drug and sounds like a true systemic allergic reaction. I'd advise stopping it straight away and notifying your GP so they can add it to your file. It's not one that's likely to ease I'm afraid. Please don't keep taking it as it's likely to get a lot worse

Not to scare you, but here's my story. My dog has had extreme allergies, scratching and chewing herself raw. After 7 weeks and many dog prescriptions later, I started itching with red spots on my legs and stomach. How does a dog's allergies transmit to me? Well, I showed by boss the red spots on my arm, and with laugher he said, " you have chiggers." Now another trip to the vet and it was discovered my dog had "scabies" and not allergies, and with one dose of the proper meds, dog was healing quickly. Then I trip to the dermatologist and I was medicated with topical meds and now all is well. I chose to share just to spread the word. My boss saved the distress of my dog, thank the Lord.
