hey

Hope it's related here.

Suffering from incessant cramps in the anus all day, not painful but very annoying for two months, going from doctor to doctor with no answer

Does anyone know the phenomenon and can give me answers?

Hi, unfortunately I've had the same pain for nine years now after a coccygectomy. Nothing seems to stop the pain down there or the spasm. I use Lyrica, a muscle relaxer and Hydro more phone when it's really bad. Wish I had more to tell you.

Hi, last year I had an annoying and incessant feeling there too (not long after Covid and being really unwell) - I realised that mine felt like a buzzing with contractions. After a few weeks I found this and it went away after I drank more water, ate more fibre and cut carbs. Interestingly my Dr was totally uninterested and of no help. steadyhealth.com/medical-an...

Hi, may I ask how long you were last seen? Thanks for the answer

Seen! Telephone appt was my luxury! I also have an overtightened pelvic floor but the physio I saw (gynie physio) didn't think it was related. I was frightened that it could mean that I had piles or something more serious but contortions with mirror showed nothing. Mine seemed to be related to diet. Cutting carbs has been wonderful in many ways and I'm now losing weight. And the buzzing/pain which I had for just over 6 weeks, has not returned.

Check out levator ani syndrome. Levator ani are tiny muscles on each side of the anus. I've had it for about 14 years, though it was not identified by name most of that time. Pelvic floor physical therapy can be tremendously helpful. Mine can be extremely painful and interrupts sleep, etc. Ibuprofen helps. I get steroid injections (just in the hip) every 5 or 6 months and that usually gives me quite a bit of relief. 10mg baclofen (prescription) 3x daily is a very small dose and helps. But I usually only take it 1x daily at bedtime because it makes me drowsy (I'm very sensitive to drugs causing drowsiness so it might not affect everyone like that). Hope this is information that helps you!

OMG that sounds awful! A cramping anus seems painful to me! Have you had your pelvic floor assessed? A constantly tight and spasming pelvic floor can cause all kinds of cramping and issues throughout your pelvis. Pelvic Floor physical therapists have really been my saviors in figuring out my issues, which was ultimately endometriosis and severe fibrosis. They have helped me find the good doctors that don't dismiss things as anxiety or just that its normal for women to live in pain. I look for PTs listed on the icarebetter database for endometriosis providers, which includes PTs. Sometimes they aren't available anymore or aren't accepting new patients but they can recommend other providers they respect and know are skilled in your specific issue. I've had some duds but none were terrible.

Any doctor or provider that has taken the time to be a true expert in Endo is also more compassionate and a true detective dedicated to actually figuring out the source of your pain, even if it isn't Endometriosis. They will also know other doctors that may be better trained for your specific issue. It is an amazing network of providers that act as a community.
