9cm "Gary" the Fibroid

Hello, I have a 9cm Intramuscal fibroid which is causing me so many issues 😔

I am having both bladder & bowel issues, heavy periods and constant pain & discomfort. My uterus is bulky and my right kidney is now dilated.

I am awaiting another scan and then hopefully gynea will finally see me.

I need it removed but I'm only 34 and want another baby, so just wondering if anyone on here has been in a similar situation?

xx

HI

So I had multiple fibroids, between 5-6cm and I had all the symptoms you are reporting.

Am currently 6 day post op following a hysterectomy. Am 43 had my 3 children so I was happy to have a total hysterectomy leaving my ovaries. However there is an operation you can have to remove the fibroid if you want more children, once you are seen in Gynae they will prob offer you a hormone injection called Zoladex (puts u into menopause) however it shrinks the fibroid which helps the surgeon remove it more easily. Don’t worry about the word menopause because as soon as u stop the injections ur body/ hormones return to normal.

I was on the injection 3 months prior to my operation to shrink everything so I could have key hole surgery rather than open surgery. However I didn’t care how the operation was done just as long as it was done.

I feel like I have been luck as from first referral to operation day was a full 12 mths, in this day and age following Covid I believe that is good.

Good luck with everything let me know how you get on.

Hi Em,

Thank you so much for your reply with lots of information 😊 I'll read up on the injections.

I've got my date for a transvaginal ultrasound scan this week so hopefully the gynae team will see me after that & give me my options 🤞

Wishing you a speedy recovery and that you no longer have symptoms.
