deferred pain

I suffer with deferred pain . Its a random process whereby I can strain my back without knowing it and then have pain develop down the sides of my groin and painful agonising sharp pains at the base of my pelvis. It is something I have suffered with on and off for nearly 30 years. I believe the trigger point was back in the early 1990s when I jarred the base of my spine picking up a heavy suitcase. Years later, I developed agonising pain in the base of my pelvis. The dr referred me to the consultant at the hospital who suggested it was referred or deferred pain readiating from my back to to the pelvis. I have never been given any medication for this as no pain killers seem to touch the pain. I have again suffered a recent flare up after picking up heavy bags and am now just resting and spraying Biofreeze on my spine. It has become a nightmare as I can go months or years without these flare ups and then I am hit with it all of a sudden. I am wondering if this is something anyone else has encountered and is having to live with. Any suggestions to help allieviate such pain would be apppreciated as there are days when I feel I just cant stand this any longer -With thanks

Hi,

It sounds awful. I'm sorry to hear you are suffering this. What in the past has helped it if anything? I'm in the same boat at the minute. Going through a 2 month flare which is showing no sign of abating but in fact is probably getting worse. I hope you find some relief soon. Hang in there.

Hi there I really sympathise with you I had sudden onset low back pain with spasms and pain in the groin same side . I could not move at all without excruciating pain. Was given entonox by paramedics and gp prescribed co codamol and diazepam for the spasms . I also used ice to put on my back for about 15 mins a time . But I also have pelvic pain with it same side . I decided to go chiropractor to see if it helps , if it doesn’t then need some tests . Lying flat on back with feet propped up helps too . I hope you feel better soon you are not alone x
