Three things have really helped me with the healing- I have a hand head shower which I use to clean my bottom and perineal area using cool water when I take my shower each morning. I take my shower after my main defecation for the day. I found after a long time that using warm or hot water was increasing the itch. I wash down there with liquid olive oil castile soap. only if needed. The last item costs some money but I found well worth it. I have a bidet toilet seat which I use every time I void or defecate. I dry with warm air and pat dry with Seventh Generation toilet tissue which has no dyes or fermeldehyde. I clean with water which I have set at one click above tap water temperature. This is southing, cleans with little or more need for soap and helps in the healing process. I had a small fissure for 20 years that finally healed with these three things; four things if you count the toilet tissue. If you don't have access to a bidet you could use a small sweeze bottle with slightly warm water to do the cleaning on the bottom.
I don’t have fissures. They sound painful and very debilitating.
I have a functional neuropathy in my rectum and lower bowel. I use 1/8 of a cup of milk ( almond for me ) and mix a heaping tsp if ground flax seeds to it. It’s like a shooter drink I have every night after dinner. You’ll have a BM the next day.
Are you adding Epsom salts to your baths? The magnesium sulphate will calm sore and spasming muscles.
If you have nerve pain you need a nerve pain modulator like Nortriptyline or Amytriptyline. Don’t be talked into trying Gabapentin, Lyrica or Cymbalta. They are toxic meds and they cause very bad side effects for most people.
I had a laparoscopy and age 61 the surgeon found endometriosis on my right ureter! I honestly believe I’ve had endo my whole life that was never properly diagnosed. I had debilitating pain when I menstruated. I’m sure endo played a role in that and why I had trouble conceiving.
I have been dealing with fissures for several months. I ended up getting botox injections beginning of Mar luckily before everything shutdown as I was in debilitating pain I don't know if I could have survived it mentally without it. It has definitely helped but I also have done several things to assist in healing. I felt as if my bowels were not aligned correctly so defecating was painful and causing the fissures. So I went to a chiropractor, used cold water sitz instead of warm, use a cleansing bottle after each bowel movement and also found cbd suppositories that helped the healing process begin, i also use a zinc cream on the rectal area daily for help healing, the other dr prescribed ointment did not help. watching diet. Limit bread and sugar. I take mirlax every morning. A few weeks ago I got a really bad yeast infection and had to 2 rounds of pill, diflucan I think and then still not clear so had to do the cream inserted. I have also been doing yoga stretching from YouTube. Fem fusion is the channel she is very good and definitely has helped as well dont do the kegel ones. take daily walks. So all of these things together have finally given me relief on most days. I pray I don't have to go through this ever again. I have lupus as well so believe some of the meds have caused some of my issues. Good luck and I hope this helps. Nobody understands how debilitating this pain is.
I live in NJ, My rectal surgeon did them at the hospital, it should have been in and out procedure. But due to the amount of pain I was in after, I also had colonoscopy at same time they kept me over night for observation.
I only had it done at beginning of March so I am praying it lasts.
Ah I see. I live in the UK and I had it done in London last time. It works wonders. I was wondering in case there was some new magical doctor that had sprung up somewhere 😅 mine lasted nearly a year last time.
Well so far it is magical after the debilitating pain I was in. I feel like I have my life back. I was actually glad to be in stay at home orders so I could continue to heal in the house while teleworking. Walking and doing the peudendal stretching has really helped plus the zinc cream.
So glad I have seen your post - I also have multiple fissures that heal and come back, it’s like a vicious cycle. I haven’t found anyone else that has multiple! Can I ask where your fissures are located? E.g at 6 o clock, 3 o clock?
