Rectocele prolapse

I am 53 and two moths ago had a prolapse I assume it is a rectocele by where it is. It is now filling my whole vagina and I have an 8 week wait for an appointment. I have never been examined and can't face it. Anyone had such a prolapse who can advise? I am in terrible discomfort and it is sometimes painful too. I have an active job and am on the verge of going off sick. Thanks

I have rectocoele and enterocoele prolapse. Dreaded seeing consultant.Gp who examined me was fine and consultant was so gentle.I was offered pessary at second examination but found it too painful and wouldn't keep in properly.I was told not advisable to have an operation as am on blood thinners etc Went back and was offered smaller one but by then decided to stay as I am but does give me lots of back ache and inerfers with my bowel and bladder .

Hi Donna, I hear you! I'm on my third rectocele, mine started after a forceps delivery. I understand how awful they can be when you can't empty your rectum. Are you looking at your diet in the meantime? I have to drink 3 litres of water a day, I make sure I eat a lot of vegetables, which does all help. Have you tried doing more kegel exercises? I have one of those devices like a kegel 8, if you use it religiously it may help your symptoms.

Don't worry about being examined, if you can relax your pelvic floor it shouldn't cause any discomfort at all. The doctor will use plenty of lubrication.

I've had surgery twice, it's not a 100% fix but it can improve it. It's so important not to get constipated and strain too much, I know this isn't easy.

Forgot to add Donna, I take magnesium citrate, it really does help the stools to move along as well making the stool softer. I also use vaseline on my anus, as I strain a lot too. A walk helps stimulate the bowel making it easier to pass a stool. If you need to lose weight try losing a few pounds, the heavier you are the more pressure on your pelvic floor.

Hello

I have similar problems and use a laxative some nights. It seems the more fibre I eat the worse the constipation is. I use Milk of Magnesia and Senna.

I have lost weight about a stone on the Keto diet pills. Lost a stone in three weeks. Very quick no side effects either can recommend reduces appetite definitely. Has helped.

Told to drink lots of water which I'm doing. Seems to help a bit with sleep. Get up 3/4times a night and sometimes very painful to pee and difficult to sometimes. Stop drinking coffee the clinic advised should but difficult.

Just had a bad episode. Going to see Gynocologist at weekend. Going to a physiology clinic meantime. Pelvic floor exercises recommended. Sit on a hard chair helpful and apply lidocaine when really sore. Nips a bit but helps eventually.

Just want to feel normal again.

Hello glenbanchor, I had the same problem, the more fibre, especially in the form of bran the more constipated I got, it was impossible to pass anything. I didn't realise years ago that fibre needs an awful lot of water too. I used to eat porridge every morning that made it worse too. The fibre from vegetables and fruit if you can eat it is much more gentle. I have interstitial cystitis and I'm very limited in the fruit I can eat, apples pears, apricots and very ripe mango I can manage.

I still wake up and have coffee made with full fat milk, it's the only way I can drink it without pain. I'm putting a good heaped teaspoon of coconut oil in it. I find the coconut oil is a good stool softener. Don't overdue it though, if you have too much it can cause awful stomach cramps and diarrhoea!

I'm glad you're seeing a gynaecologist, mine has referred me to physio therapy too. I've had 16 surgeries now, and not willing to have any more, so a new approach is welcome.

It's almost impossible to live a normal life with this isn't it. My eldest daughter had her son with a ventouse delivery, she has a rectocele too. Childbirth can be really damaging. She's been given a DIY type of gentle enema. I'll try and find out what it's called. It uses warm water.

Hi Donna (for others very explicit tekst about feases so step out if you don t have a prolaps ) unfortunally i have it also. Once it was as big as a squach bal uit of my vigina Now I push on time with toiletpaper the feases to the good side and entrance. Sometimes i lose feases so then i ware a dipper. Its very uncomtable and hard work to stay clean also with having sex ( if i have it , because there are other discomforts in my pelvic as pudendal neuralgie ) i want the prolaps clean and empty. I don t know if you have this discomfort also but compassion for your situation. You can put in mesh maths inplanted but there are very very high risk on more pain.

Thanks everyone. I have always had a diet high in vegetables and drink nothing but water, lots of it, so at least I have that right. After terrible pain and bleeding late last week I ended up at the emergency room and now I am being referred to oncology. Still not had to be examined that God and I know that's coming but hopefully under anesthetic. I am shocked at how quickly my body has changed and am a bit worried that surgery isn't always a fix but it's good to have this support as I was lost and scared before. I will try the different options suggested for my bowels. I have definitely found laxatives helpful. Bit tmi possibly but I am now passing a lot of very bubbly smelly wind from my vagina. Anyone else identify?? Thank you and thank god I don't have a profile photo!!!!!
