DCT your thoughts please??

I have just been reading the DCT website and I’d like to know more and maybe get some feedback about it from you guys! I have been diagnosed with bilateral pudendal neuralgia 8 weeks ago.... previous to this I thought it was vulvodynia, I could sit, walk, run, lift etc 8 weeks ago after finishing a short course of nortriptyline which have me the most horrendous side effects (urine retention, constipation, hypersensitivity, I actually had a nervous breakdown resulting in a who new realm of pain I’ve never experienced before, this last 8 weeks, I can’t sit, stand for long or even take a walk!! Even being lay on my back causes me pain! I’m after a way out and I’ve tried everything!!!

Does DCT work? And how well is it working for you? I just need a gentle bit of persuasion and guidance and I’ll order it!

I’d love to hear your success stories! I can’t stay bed ridden for much longer!

I have a 3 year only an run my own small laser clinic so it’s important to me that I find something that works for me 😊

Thanks for your support irs greatly appreciated. Natalie x

Also I see that the DCT website it states male pelvic floor dis functional situations.... what about women! Does this work for only men or is there another site for women?

JH19 in reply to 1980natty

Im a female. Its helping me but my pain wasn't as bad as you described. Basically I was fine on waking but driving, sitting in meetings etc was creating pudendal pain and muscle disfunction which caused pelvic pain. I was taking quite a lot of prcegablin for the nerve pain. I believe DCT is helping me reduce my pain and I've only been doing it two weeks.

Great once you start getting into it you start to learn so much about your body you never realised. My whole body had twisted up on itself but I can trace this back to being a child so it was very slow posture changes you don't realise have happened. The pelvic floor is just sandwiched in-between all these other dysfunctional muscles.

It does take alot of effort and work. it's honestly a good year or more of constant work but after a while it become addictive trying to change your body. Say hi Inn the Facebook group everyone helps in there.

Could you keep health unlocked group here updated on your progress, maybe on this same post.

I’ve noticed as David has (the man who devised this course with Nic) that the longer you don’t address this, the worse the muscles tighten. I did my first work out. It was hard cos I’m almost 65, overweight with all the crap tablets I’ve taken and a bit out of condition but I will work at this and let you know. $259 for the course. Try it, what have you tolose, they promise your money back if your not satisfied.

Hi there, I also did my first workout this morning ..... I feel like I’m flared up! Did you aggravate your pain? Also are you able to sit? I’m so fed up with not sitting 😰 I’m so depressed with it xx

swarke22 profile image
swarke22 in reply to 1980natty

Hi, yes I did flare up but I was told I would so was prepared for it. As for sitting, try eight years and four operations later. Having said I do think there is something in this course. The only thing I can’t find is if we do something every day or all the training every other day, confused about that.

1980natty profile image
1980natty in reply to swarke22

There a plan of what to do but I’m very confused as well.... I wish there was a local class to attend and then I’d feel like I’m getting it right..... I suppose it’s hard because I’m so scared of more pain...... I suppose you’ve had lots of nerve blocks.... do they work for anyone? If not why do they bother doing them? Xxx

swarke22 profile image
swarke22 in reply to 1980natty

I don’t know, I’ve had injections in the pudendal nerves with Dr DeMelo then nerve ablation to the genitofemoral nerve sites, iliac nerve and the cutaneous femoral nerve I had decompressedI then had pudendal nerve decompression on both sides, didn’t help and I then remortgaged and had nerve removal in the United states which helped marginally. So I must get results with this. I’ve just done the fasciae training this morning, now need to teach John how to help me with assisted training. I suppose the more we do the better we get. I’m not sure about the monkey bars as I have arthritis in my fingers, but I will try if I can find monkey bars. lol that would be af sight to behold but we have to laugh at something. Do you know what brought yours on?

1980natty profile image
1980natty in reply to swarke22

I think I’ll have my nerve block and hope for the best then resume DCT when the nerve isn’t quite so sensitive.... I honestly can’t cope with this pain and look after my 3 year old and go to work, it’s impossible..... I just can’t do it. I’d rather die .... I hate to say it but I can’t cope

1980natty profile image
1980natty in reply to swarke22

I have no idea what brought this on, I was diagnosed with vulvodynia, in February I was on prescribed nortriptyline which I had severe side effects too... I couldn’t wee and my nervous system went into chaos ..... as soon as the urine problem started I found it more and more difficult to sit for any length of time, by the time I got to the end of one month taking the nortriptyline I couldn’t sit it at all and that was eight weeks ago. I was hoping and my gp seems to think my body should readjust just that seems more and more unlikely as the weeks go by, I was sitting only weeks ago we even booked flights to Australia for September which it looks like I won’t be able to go to now..... it’s come out of the blue and I haven’t a clue why it’s been so dramatic?

Geecee1 profile image
Geecee1 in reply to swarke22

Doing it will a partner is great make things so much better to do. Monkey bars a helpful but just start by hanging from something it helps to stretch the body out. Taking us back to our long distance ape like routes.

Watch this video it’s by a guy called bob Cooley who initially came up with the whole resistance stretching technique

Geecee1 profile image

Shirley look at adding the wimhoff method to your daily routine. Many of us swear by it. The aim of the technique is to help you gain control over your nervous system through breath work (also cold showers but you don’t have to do that it’s the breathing that’s the most important)

Everything the people in DCT do is self help and natural. None of us believe in doctors, specialist etc can help us it’s all about things we can do to help ourselves.

Geecee1 in reply to swarke22

Pelvic pain I’m totally fine now although it just changes around the body. I’ve got lots of tension in my throat and head that’s all be spasming recently. Took me about 18 months to get rid of pelvic pain.

You sound like you have had to live with it for a long time and have been through the mill with doctors. Really sorry to hear that. For chronic pain doctors can’t do anything in my opinion. The best things I found was DCT for fixing the body and wim hoff technique to train the nervous system and help with energy and mental side

After that good food and sleep etc but it was those two methods (DCT mainly for the pain) that got me better

swarke22 profile image
swarke22 in reply to Geecee1

I believe I’ve had the operations as David and one Doctor was the same. I put weight on when I went on progablin and have taken that down but not enough. Yes I’ve been through the mill and my muscles are so tight but I will ease myself into these workouts. Is the breathing method the same as you do in yoga. I do pilates and water walking to try and help. And for someone who has a lot to live for this pain has certainly made me suicidal at times. Just hope these strange feelings in pelvis stop soon. I can’t wait for that.

Geecee1 profile image
Geecee1 in reply to swarke22

The breathing is a very different method to yoga give it a try (again to start with the body reacts very strangely to it but ease into it and it and after a while it creates great changes in the body

There’s only a few of us who have been doing DCT long enough to totally fix ourselves but that is mixture of men and women. Myself and Jane who really went at it last year both came out the other end at roughly the same time. DCT is aiming at people who want to totally fix the problem at the route cause not simply manage it. I know many other men and women all doing it and we all agree men and women are no different. We all have pain, pelvic problems, ibs type symptoms, urinary symptoms, sexual symptoms and it’s basically tight muscle tissue. DCT is basically about fixing yourself and not relying on doctors, therapists, drugs etc etc.

There’s a great bunch of people doing it about 200 in a Facebook group and it the most positive supportive group I’ve seen. Everyone in there are working their asses off to get rid of this condition.

Roughly you can be looking at 6-12 months to fix things. It’s about creating strong healthy muscle tissue in the hips core and legs getting rid of any tension in the area.

From what everyone has found going through the process that yes obviously the nerve is effected and sending pain to the brain but it’s the tense muscle tissue surrounding it that what creating the pain.

I can’t recommend it highly enough

It’s up to you they won’t harm it but Personally i wouldn’t bother with the nerve block or physio. I think doctors just experiment on people and with DCT you don’t need a physio. Do DCT properly and it really is the last money you will spend on fighting this thing

I’ve had this for so long and it was never diagnosed properly until I couldn’t sit and now I feel like there is no return? I have to work we will loose our home if I don’t work.... I have my own business and I can’t work in complete pain.... how long do these flares last with DCT ..... please help xx

Geecee1 profile image
Geecee1 in reply to 1980natty

I know it doesn’t seem it but flairs after DCT are a good sign. It’s the body changing. The tissue can pull really really tight and it plays havoc in the whole body. I can see from your photo your neck looks really tight. Do you get tension headaches, sore neck/ jaw? Anyone in the group know how much issue I’ve had with my throat and neck. It’s taken me so much work to fix but I’ve nearly done it now and I’m so so glad I pushed myself through as the problems with it would of only got worse over time. Now I won’t have them anymore same with pelvis.

You have your own business that’s good same her (I employ nearly 30 people) and had to keep that going while suffering in pain and fixing myself! Was not an easy few years! But use the hard work, dedication and mindset you used to set up your business to fix your pain. Become tunnel vision, don’t let anything get in your way or stop you from getting your life back.

The first few months of doing DCT are very hard and lonely and confusing. Just be strick with yourself no matter what is happening what is going on how bad you feel you show up and put the work in. Build the habit and momentum. Don’t let anything stop you.

I don’t think I’m strong enough... I have a nerve block on Monday, maybe if it works I’ll be able to do DCT with a little less pain? Honestly it’s so severe I can’t move off the couch ....

Geecee1 profile image
Geecee1 in reply to 1980natty

It’s totally your decision id just be very very wary of nerve blocks, injections, Botox and anything like that. I’ve never heard anything positive about those methods and generally more about making money than patients well being. I think what doctors do to us is truly horrific and not in our best interests at all. But that is my personal opinion.

Speak to some of the women in the group (Jane , lizbeth, Caroline , Elizebeth) they might be able to give you some advise

1980natty profile image

No I don’t get headaches or feel any tension. I never have until this past 12 weeks .... 1 month taking the medication and 8 weeks post taking it.... I really want to do DCT but I can’t live through this pain. I just can’t. I can’t function .... it’s immense

Geecee1 profile image
Geecee1 in reply to 1980natty

I think everyone can sympathise with it. Once you’ve had it a few years none stop you sort of get used to it. I only had it for 5 years (but no let up constant every day) David had it for 14 years, sounds like Shirley’s had it for a good 10-20 years. It starts to become part of your character.

Honestly if it’s only recently come on get working on fixing it before it set in chronically

in reply to 1980natty

I did pelvic physio with a specialist for 12 months. Each session gave me a bit of relief but did not help long term and cost me a small fortune. I did meet another patient who said it was curing him though - he had 'cyclists syndrome'. If you have nerve blocks, physio, CBD and do DCT, how do you know what is working? My own advice would be commit to DCT, but have some physio too, the two may work well together, but don't go to endless physio sessions. CBD - waste of time I think. Nerve block - hmmm, can't advise sorry.

I would recommend dct, men or women. It's quite hard work, physically and mentally, you need to find maybe an hour a day and commit to it for many months, and be prepared for ups and downs. The closed FB group is great - positive and supportive. I've been doing dctfor 5 months, my core muscles and fascia are improving, though no real pain reduction yet. A significant number of members do report improvements and even full recovery - there are no clear stats yet as the method is quite new, I'd like to see better stats. I'd say it cannot guarantee recovery, but it gives you a chance, it is based on sound principles, and at a reasonable cost. CBD - I tried that, no effect.

Hi Lovie,

Just hang on in there. I saw Dr DeMelo and had injections to both sides. It didnt really help me but for about five minutes. I then had pudendal decompression which again hasn’t really helped so I am trying this course because I believe with proven strategies I must give it a go. I am starting today but I think from some of your replies, people have seen results.

Good luck, the video I watched was a woman who this protocol had worked which is why I’m trying it,

I suggest you read lots of old posts. Different things have helped different people, and many have found no help at all. If you read back you will see many many of the treatments that will be suggested to you in the future and get more of a feel for your journey, as well as understanding, and strength, this is not something that can be understood by any one who has not felt this pain, nor tried to get help for it. I wish you the very best.

Geecee1 profile image
Geecee1 in reply to 1980natty

Unfortunately we’re all the same and the harsh truth is this is the reality we now live in. We can’t change it just accept it and focus on getting rid of it. The way I looked at it was I have two options live with it for the rest of my life or work my ass off, beat through the pain, fix it, come out the other side and get the rest of my life back without any pain. I never really got flairs I was constantly in pain (4 on a good day 8/9 on a bad) took me about 18-24 months of DCT but now have zero pelvic symptoms and haven’t for nearly a year now. I now know I’ll never have them back for the rest of my life as I’ve fixed it.

The unfortunate truth is doctors can mask the pain, physios can give us intermittent relief but only we can totally fix it. DCT is the correct theory on muscle tension and how to fix it, it just takes a lot of effort there’s no denying that.

In a way you have to mentally say to yourself I’m not prepared to live like this for the rest of my life and I’ll do what ever it takes to beat it. There’s a good video from Jason in the closed group where he says how he’s already in pain so what the hell whats a bit more pain, bring it on! It’s that sort of attitude that will get you through ton the other side.

Then everyone has their own preference on relaxing whether hot baths, music, painkiller etc etc that’s down to personal preference..

Many of us in the DCT group use the wimhoff breathing techniques to control pain and mind

So we all do the wimhoff breathing, cold showers and mediations to help control the mind and nervous system. It goes well with DCT and self healing

Hello everyone i would like to ask a question..

I have bilateral pudendal nerve from 8 years but I have no pain but only urinary and sexual problems.

Could this course help for urinary and sexual problem or it's only for people that have pain?

I have already tested the rehabilitation of the pelvic floor but without results

.

Sorry but I'm Italian and I don't speak English very well:)
