I never got Botox but tried pretty much everything else - the only thing that worked was a nightly 25mg dose of amitriptyline. It essentially cured the condition. You should definitely try. It takes a few weeks or so to kick in.

When I used amitriptyline and it made me so depressed, I would just spend most of my time in bed crying. No change in pain. The stress from crying actually caused the pain to worsen. Our bodies reacts so differently to different treatments! So wonderful for you it helped!!

Sorrr that didn’t work! Everyone’s different. It’s an incredibly frustrating and devestating condition. Hopefull Botox does the trick.

Tommy,

It relieved my levator ani spasms and the combination with pelvic floor therapy internal solved spasms. Also, I added magnesium glyconate which really assisted.

I have been getting injections into the levator ani for three years now but it is not Botox. Calls it a trigger point injection, by palpating. Helps a great deal after a few weeks. Good luck!
