Hi, I had fibroids removed from my bowel once. They like to remove them in case they go cancerous, but they are usually non cancerous. All the best

Hi Suzie,

Just to clear up any confusion fibroids only occur in the uterus and very very rarely turn out to be malignant. Growths in the bowel are referred to as polyps and can turn cancerous which is why they prefer to remove them. Polyps can also occur in the uterus, amongst other organs including the nose where I’ve had some removed. In most cases if they cause any symptoms it’s annoying rather than anything sinister. I hope this helps

hi Joanna, i have a small intramural one 9x7mm and a larger one outside the uterus but attached on stalk (43x39x40mm). Doc said key hole surgery is an option but not essential to get rid of the bigger one. They are not causing me any symptoms that i know of and scared to have surgery but also scared to leave - in case they grow... how big was the one you removed? how quickly did you recover? im 33 and also hoping to start family v soon x

Hi sorry for late reply.I had a 2-3cm intracavity fibroid (Type 0) filling the lower uterine cavity which was easily resected. There was also a Type 2 fundal fibroid which had a slight mucosal element to it. The Dr was only able to remove the superficial aspect of of the type 2 fibroid. I recovered quickly from the gen an. I took 2 weeks off work but was up and about in a few days. I still have heavy periods but they are not quite as pro longed now & I take Tranexamic acid to reduce the heaviness

Good luck. Does the gynaecologist know where it is? Is it in myometrium tissue? Is it growing around an ovary? Fibroids can be grow and some are as large as a melon.

Hi, its 10x6 inside my uterus. I was told it is urgent and I was given a date for the surgery when I saw the gynecologist following my scan for the following week.

Due to my ongoing health problems, Lupus, lung problems, diabetic, bad asthmatic etc, on the day of the op the anesthetist refused to do it saying I was too much of a risk as the hospital did not have a back up team and I am very breathless. My operation is now planned for tomorrow. As my growth is over my bladder I go to the loo every 1.5 to 2 hours in the night and I also have huge night sweats. Just this alone makes me feel ill and if these can stop I would be so happy.

I went to see numerous doctors about this who told me it was all in my head!

Just hoping it is non malignant as I have a friend who I just found out has these symptoms as it is serious.
