Adhesions - what type of pain?

Can you please describe the type of pain you get with adhesions?

I had adhesions notes and removed during a lap but my main pain is vaginal so I gather the adhesions aren’t really relevant?

Adhesions are scar tissue. They can form inside your body after surgery or an infection. They are like chewing gum and stick your insides together. (My apologies if you already know this.) Mine are attached to nerve endings and have pulled my body parts around and stuck them to each other and the wall of my stomach. The pain that brings is constant. Every time I move, they pull and cause pain that can travel down my legs and right through my body. The pain can be sharp, stabbing - can feel like an electric shock, and when I don’t move, its a dull ache. It’s there all the time and sometimes you can feel them snap apart if you move a certain way. Depending where your adhesions were, the pain can be in your groin, or higher up in your body. I don’t know if you’re aware of this, but adnesions can grow back quickly after they are removed and more of them. That’s why they don’t advise surgery to remove them. Like I said, mine are attached to nerve endings and that can feel like someone has put a red hot poker inside of me and is twisting and stabbing it. I’m in constant pain and take a lot of medication, which include fentanyl patches, pregabalin for the nerve ending pain, oramorph for when the pain becomes too severe. (Plus other medication.) So as you see, the pain that can be associated with adhesions can vary greatly. It’s also hard for people to understand as outwardly, you seem ok. But it can take over your life and vary from a dull ache to sharp stabbing pains that can also travel down your legs and sometimes up your back and arms. I’m sorry that this reply is so longwinded! Lol. But adhesions can form any where in your body and can cause a varied amount of pain. The important thing is that you find a doctor who understand this as some of them can dismiss the fact that adhesions can cause so much pain. But there are a lot of sufferers out there that can prove that wrong. I hope my reply helps you in some way. You take care hun. X
