Double incontinence, nerve damage or gynaecological problem ?

Hi, 16 years ago I had an accident which injured my lower spine effecting the nerves in my left leg. Approximately a year ago I started leaking a little bit of wee. Since then it has gradually got worse and now every time I stand up I can't hold on to it. Also over the last 6 months or so I have had problems with faecal incontinence. Mostly unaware of it until going to the toilet. I plucked up the courage to tell my GP and she is concerned that this could be due to the nerve damage to my back deteriorating. She also said it could be a gyno-urinary problem. Has anyone else had this kind of problem and if so, if you have had treatment for it, could you please tell me what sort of treatment you have had and how successful it has been. Thank you in advance for any information.

The incontinence could be from bladder and/or nerve issues. Youbweill need a full exam by a urologist, a CT or MRI and Pelvic Physical Therapy by a specialist.

Thank you for your reply. I have seen a consultant about the nerve damage, he has arranged an MRI but he also said that, as it had been going on for such a long time, even if it is the nerves that are causing the problem, there is very little that can be done at this late stage. My gp has also made arrangements for me to see a gyro-urinary consultant too. So I think everything is covered. I just wondered how other people in similar situations have gone on and what treatments they may have had and how successful they were.
