I had a pelvic vein embolism done last year, which went via the groin after they could not find right vein through my neck artery. I personally found the neck took longer to recover than the groin. The groin sounds worse, but it wasn't for me. The main advice I would offer is loose underwear and soft material ie not jeans post embolism, as isnt that comfortable. As only my left side was treated last time, and I have been (dramatically) symptomatic since, I am having a second one done next week, to hopefully locate, evaluate and treat the right. It really is minimally invasive. I would suggest that you accept sedation if they offer, as it can take a long time if it's tricky and makes it more comfortable. I was told it would take 30 mins appx, but due to severity, it took over 2 hours. Good luck. It's not done in an operating theatre , in some ways that made it all feel easier, being in radiology. There were however , a number of students / support team in the room with my consultant, just to warn you. I counted 10, but it was a teaching hospital. Good luck!
