Surgery for adhesion

Has anyone have advice for recovery after adhesion surgery. I found out I have a large adhesion that is attached to my uterus and it pulling it up and to the left of my abdomen wall. Doctor advises to take my uterus also. I've had increasing pain for about 4 years. I hope to have a consultation with the doctor this week.

Of course taking away the uterus might relieve ur adhesion. But if u didint complete ur family u should search for another opinon. Also adhesion around the uterus can be released by surgery without taking the uterus

Adhesions are very painful and i am so sorry that you have them. I got them the first time after I had my uterus out for endometrial cancer. My ovaries were left in and the adhesions were everywhere and wrapped around the ovaries. Had them out with adhesions, but a small piece of ovary was left because it was attached to bowel. A few months a go i had that removed, a cyst and a mass removed. And now i have pelvic congestion syndrome and lots of inflammation/adhesions. The reason i tell you this, is because not only to adhesion hurt like heck, but the have a tendancy to come back. i am not saying that will happen to you, but just wanted to let you know.

Bottom line, i would have the adhesion removed, maybe the uterus if the doctor thinks it will help. And just take it EASY when recovering. That will help the adhesions to not form as many. just like any other surgery area.

Please let me know if you have any questions and good luck and God Bless!

The others are right in saying that having adhesions removed does not mean they won't return and having your uterus removed is a serious step. My advice would be to make sure that the surgeon you are seeing is very experienced in this type of work and explains everything very thoroughly to you before you agree to his recommendations. It took me a while to find a surgeon that I had enough confidence in to trust with this type of work, don't be afraid to ask for another opinion if he or she is not making you feel at ease about their explanation of what they intend to do and precisely why it would be in your best interests. There are some consultants out there who have a real interest in - and knowledge of - this type of surgery and won't talk down to you, hang on until you find one! Good luck.

My mum has adhesions the doctors say it's the worst case they have ever seen. She has had 10 operations every time the adhesions have come back and worse. Her bowel is now so obstructed by them she cannot eat and is in constant pain. The surgeon will not operate again as they say she won't make it. I would say please do not have surgery it causes more adhesions. My mum has no life. Fingers crossed for you x
