Hi

Yes, I found lots of useful ideas in this book:

HEALING WITHOUT FREUD OR PROZAC. Natural approaches to curing stress, anxiety and depression. By Dr David Servan-Schreiber.

It has helped me a lot, I'm sure you'll find some ideas in this book that will help you too.

Best wishes.

Hi, the current thought is exercise such as simple walking, alone, with a dog or in a group. Interacting with pets. Doing an activity you like. Meeting people and socialising, voluntary work. Meditation.

Even a simple change to your normal routine can help.

The book sounds like a good idea too.

I have had PNE for 13+ years. I hurt too bad now to socialize. I can't sit long enough to get anywhere and would stand when a visitor comes. I do have a pet whom I love dearly, but sometimes hurt too much to find solace there. I can't volunteer for the same reasons. I am as low as I can go. I do some walking but not far. I do have hobbies which I can do standing, and I enjoy them, but sometime I just don't feel like doing anything. I hurt so bad I can not stand myself. I am old now, but I am blessed to have a mate who loves me and understands as much as he can.

Great ideas but maybe consulting with a counsellor also? They can help you examine your thinking to figure out what is working and what is not doing the job. Current thinking is that we should "fake it til we make it" which means doing what you usually got pleasure from, even if you dont feel like it!

Hi amitryptiline is an antidepressant which can be used to treat pain in low doses and also depression. This might be helpful.

thank you all so much.. i think my increased depression might be related to the drug pregabalin i have been taking these past few weeks, for anxiety and pain..there are others issues too - i have emotional problems..i am a grown adult of 35 years old and i live at home with my parents who do not have a good relationship. i have endometriosis. a lot of pain and a lot of sub conscious anxiety. many fears about everyting (due to my father's emotional cruelty)... i spend most of my time in my room afraid to come out..i have lost my sickness benefit... and my gp is not very understanding.. i have changed gps many times and i am tired of argiung with them.. i have had this illness for over 10 years and it is reducing me to a very poor quality of life..i seen a councellor last week for the first time, and seeing them again in a few days.. i frequently get suicidal thoughts, but have never harmed myself..i push everyone who tries to get close to me away because i feel intimadated( i have a terror or intimacy because i dont believe i am loveable - a lie planted in my head from childhood and throughout all my life, by my parents lack of encouragement and constant criticism and put down - satan is the father of lies!i believen in God, but yet this stronghold is very hard to break!)..i have had an operation..taken zoladex injection..tried a million and one things..but my journey to healing still continues.

.thank you all!

Hi again could you ask your GP for a referral to the Mental Health team it can be really helpful as they can come visit you at home and may be more understanding than the GP. maybe you could get them on board and then get your sickness benefit reinstated (or get referred to a consultant for your endometriosis and get them to write a letter in support too).

Hope this helps, I have found them really helpful recently when I didn't feel like going out and they have also given me helpful support with dealing with anxiety as well as getting an appointment to sort out medication for depression and anxiety.
