Go by blood results .Iron should be prescribed and monitored .

A multivitamin contains about 14mg iron And deemed safe.

That's what i did until I knew what and if I needed supplements of anything going by blood results.

Thd first ever b12 Injection should be done in a medical setting incase of an rare but possible anaphylatic shock reaction.

hello Nackapan,

thank you for this yes this is on the safe side, the multi I have does not have any iron and I can't eat to much vegies at a time or meat because of my gastritis and loose bowels I get way to easy and loose everything uh I hope that gets better, well so I purchased liquid iron from mary ruth organics and I can take 1 teaspoon is 6 mg so I thought that may not be too bad, and then I do eat vegies every meal just not too many for now, I would love to get them from only diet but for now my body just won't hold everything in. So I will try the 6mg and see how I feel. and yes I will also let my Dr. know.

thank you again.

Ideally you want to make sure your iron is deficient or low before supplementing since it can cause toxicity…..

if it is low then there’s a great supplement called three arrows simply heme iron, it’s much more effective than none heme since it absorbs better, isn’t blocked by anything and doesn’t cause side effects, it comes from animals so it should be much more gentle on your stomach compared to other iron supplements, the website also has a calculation that helps you to work out how much iron you should take based on your weight.

Alot of people don’t realise but a ferritin level of 70ug and under can cause symptoms, alot of symptoms similar to b12 deficiency, ideally ferritin needs to be above 100ug for good health.

Good morning Marvel thank you, I will look into this three arrows . I will look up my last iron test. My Dr. would not test ferritin, she said she only goes by the hemaglobin on the complete blood count test. I did have borderline mvc for the enlarged red blood cells even though It shows borderline she said its still within range and just fine.

Doctors can be difficult at times, when your RBC and Haemoglobin start going down your in the later stages of iron deficiency, when things can get alot worse…. No good doctor should allow their patients to get to that stage through choice…. For some reason alot of doctors don’t think you can experience symptoms from low ferritin, even though there’s endless research out there to back it ……. Ignorance and laziness in my opinion.

Make sure you get your ferritin tested soon, iron panel would be even better

I had very low ferritin at 8ug and was also anaemic last September. The best thing I did to learn how to manage this and improve levels safely was to join the Facebook group 'The Iron Protocol for those With and Without Anaemia'. The group has a very comprehensive set of guides (about 3-4 hours of reading) that taught me how to recognise iron deficiency correctly, has a list of all the types of iron supplements you can try and how to keep testing your blood to make sure you keep within safe limits yet take enough to make a difference. Finally after 6 months I'm getting closer to optimal levels. Are you on FB?

Good morning,

thank you for your help and replies, yes I'm at 88 lbs and can't gain any weight, now that I found out it was all malnutrition from b12 and the others I am starting to heal but since November I've been on liquid methyl oral, I really feel the need for Iron and potassium vitamin D calcium and folate now that I've had a lot of wake up symptoms these other cofactors I feel have helped a lot especially since the potassium. I will definately look up the protocols oh and yes I'm on the facebook b12 wake up.

Definitely join the Iron Protocol on FB, it will teach you everything you need to know about iron and ferritin. You don't need to be anaemic to have low ferritin and symptoms from it. You really need that ferritin measurement first before you do any supplementing as too much iron can be toxic.
