🎄Happy Christmas every body and a healthier new year. 🎄
I have had pernicious anaemia for over 40 years now. My HB is never more than 9.7. And my other red blood cell results are always slightly abnormal .. The GPs always seem to consider this is to be expected as I have PA. Is this acceptable and is there any way of rectifying my low levels? Also would I feel a healthier person if they could be remedied?

Hi, Happy Christmas and best wishes for the New Year to you too ! 🎅I'm sorry, I'm not up to speed on actual blood values, but certainly I and many others here find their iron levels tend to run low.
In my case, my haemoglobin levels have always been within normal range, but I've been anaemic many times due to low ferritin.
Often I have to take a course of ferrous sulphate tablets in order to feel well again.
If your GP thinks it's "expected " to be iron deficient, I cant understand why they don't prescribe or advise you to take iron ?
You would certainly feel better !
As always, I caution that iron levels should be monitored if taking supplements for any length of time, as too high levels are toxic.
