Hi All

My preps continue...not buying anything yet though...just getting ready.. A few questions on SI if you dont mind.

The advice / experience on using hypo needles that I have gleaned from some of our wise friends in here - for subcutaneous injection - is to use G30 1/2 (half inch) needles ( Yellow ) from Exchange Suppliers. These seem very fine.

But aim to use something less fine and longer as a "drawing up" needle - this to get the B12 out of the ampoule. I have in mind 21G 1 /1/2 ( one an half inch - Green ) from Exchange Suppliers.

Okay - then i get stuck..?

So, in terms of the 2ml syringes...? Do you use the 21G needles on the Yellow syringe? By that i mean,after drawing up the B12, you take off the 21G needle - and then put on the 30G needle ?

So, I would not need both Yellow type 2ml syringes AND Green syringes as you only need one syringe - but two needles for each injection..? Am I getting it right or just bonker...? Do all syringes fit to different size of needles? Any and all help very much appreciated.

The 1 1/2 inch needle will be fine for drawing up solution from ampoule.Any of the 2ml nevershare syringes are fine, the colour is not important for you.

I can't comment on the needle for injecting as I inject IM into thigh.

Yrs I use one 2ml syringe. Check needles are compatible. I use 21G green 1" needle to draw up the b12 .

Remove bubbles by tapping it and pushing the plunger up a little

Change to the yellow 30G .

Make sure b12 is room temperature.

I use areas of stomach 2" away from belly button.

Or thighs or his.

Pinch a roll of flesh and put needle straight in.

I usually count to 10 slowly pushing it in.

Pause.

Then gently pull it out .

I hold a sterile wioe on it for a moment.

Done.

27-30g suitable for sc.

Yes. One syringe that will hold 1ml. A drawing up safety needle and a half inch needle, fine, to inject with. I was amazed that I didn't feel it go in to my stomach(was supervised by a friend who was a nurse - very reassuring) and the whole procedure was pain-free. So liberating. I feel in control of my own condition. At last.

Thanks Orchard - I too am scared of sticking the needle in so its Subcutaneously. Glad your feeling better.

On the question of Subcutaneous v IM injections ? I read that subcutaneous delivers the B12 more slowly? and steadily..?

So, for loading IM is better...? to get it into your circulation / system faster..?

But then Subcu might be better for on-going maintenance doses..maybe IM for energy boost for people who bike a lot etc..? Guess guessing..

I'd be interested to know where you read this.I do sc by choice at home .

Eventually got a prescription from Gp in 2020

Had to fight 3 times as was going to be stopped.

I also have IM at the surgery.

I have found the above information by experience.

There is a very good graphic in that article Nacpapan that compares the three types of injection. Say you do subcutaneous at 45 degrees..? another nugget of information?
