suggest you try speaking to a pharmacist.Pain medication is an extremely difficult area and the best painkiller often depends on the type of pain that you are trying to treat. A pharmacist is generally in a better position to know about interactions between different drugs and different conditions.

Thanks .. bit difficult as I’m in Portugal and so it’s difficult to get across my issues ! I just thought there were some painkillers we were not supposed to take as they irritate lining of the stomach ? It’s for toothache unfortunately 😞

From personal experience, I have found co-codamol to be necessary for bad toothache. In case names vary, that is codeine and paracetamol.

No idea if it can be obtained in Portugal. In the UK, only 8/500 is available without prescription. 30/500 is prescription-only.

Codeine helped in my last bad toothache by sort-of drying me up a bit and reducing the feeling of pressure. That same effect can cause constipation.

I'm lucky (I think), I hardly notice anything untoward from it.

(Am taking 30/500 at present for a different issue. Only at night. Last night I tried to go without but gave in as I was still awake at about 01:30.)
