Doctor prescribed Iron tablets - worried about high iron and Side effects.
Can she get a Private Blood Transfusion as Doc says she does not need it ? Has had some before as she is Anaemic - Haemoglobin has always been below 115!
Any suggestions as how to increase haemoglobin levels with diet?
Thanks
Ash

Under what tests should be done, then subcategory "ferritin", it explains that ferritin levels Can be High even in cases of iron anemia due to inflammation. Your wife may need to be checked for C-reactive protein. I know my ferritin levels were 70 which is in the optimal range but I had chronic inflammation and once I started getting B12 shots my iron stores got used up fairly rapidly. Your wife may need to have her B12/ folate levels tested to see if her body can even use the iron that is stored in her body.
