Pinching Pain in neck,shoulders and down my arm with b12 deficiency?

I'm having my injection every 12 weeks, every time it's due I experience pinching pain in my neck and shoulder, has anyone else experienced this? Do I need to see my GP about it?

Hi Bethdavies where in your arm are you being injected?

I've had over 600 every four weeks since 1972 but have never had symptoms like you describe.

I'm due one in the morning and I'll check where my nurse injects but I think it's about two inches down from the top of my shoulder (I can't actually see it).

Perhaps the needle is catching a nerve.

I'm not medically trained but there are others who will be able to give you good advice.

Shortly after I started on B12 injections regime (3 injections/week) in February I felt this strange pain in my neck - more shoulder blade area and in top of my back and at times along spine, like a pinching sharp pain. It comes and goes and is getting much less nowadays. I thought it might be the healing process starting to repair the neurological damage caused by deficiency. When I mentioned it to GP she thought it was due to B12. Am not sure, however, many people on this forum do say that one can feel pain before feeling better through B12 healing process.Since this happens before you receive your injection could it possibly be your body telling you it needs more B12 to carry on repairing the neurological damage?

Hi, I also get bad shoulder pain just on my right hand side. It hurts in the shoulder joint and also on my back where the blade is. The pain travels in to my neck and down the top of my spine and it feels like my spine needs "cracking". I also get pins and needles down my right arm a lot. My shoulder tends to hurt more when I am running low on b12. Once I have the jab the pain reduces but then I get the pins and needles a lot more frequent. I have tried a strong massage if I am not due a jab and this does alleviate it somewhat- my neck movement gets a bit better and the pain reduces.

I do think my pain is linked to the b12 but it may be that the b12 helps the pain but is not the cause of it as it never fully goes away.

Thank you, that sounds very similar to what I'm experiencing although it travels down my arm as opposed to my spine, it's much worse when I'm due an injection, I think I will speak to my dr when I go next

The description of 'like when my back needs 'cracking'' describes exactly the feeling I get, too. I've been getting neck shoulder and back pain for a long time, with varying joint soreness with tender pins and needlesy hands and feet. I was hoping this may improve with increased injection frequency. Still early days...

Yoh may need more frequent injections. Your nerves need B12, and if they are acting up, you may be running the risk of permanent damage.

I self inject 3x a week at home, which is great as I can control the timing and dose. (I discuss with my doctor what I find...)

Have you managed to sort out the face neck and back of skull, that's just begun with me? Like 'my hair hurts' if that doesn't sound crackers.
